Hello guys,

I would like to know the best ways to outrank competitor for an ecommerce site. Already with DA/PA, backlink and content, we have more than the main competitor, yet they are outranking us for major keywords we would like to rank for. They have maintained top ranks for some of the keywords for over a year.

Are there practical ideas to explore?

Thank you.

The only way to reply would be to audit your site and competitor, to find out what needs to be done to outrank them.

Well, there are a couple steps that you can follow:
-collect you competitor's general SEO stats and draw a comparison
-analyze their content strategy and perform an on-page audit
-see how they are building backlinks
-scan their social accounts and monitor mentions.
With this info at your disposal, you will have loads of ideas of how to outrank them.
Best of luck!

DA/PA isn't a ranking factor.

Compare their site to yours and work out where yours differs.

There's a chance you're doing something that's undermining your ranking ability, which your competitor isn't.

Silo structure with links pointing to main domain only.

SEO isn’t a magical element that you either do have implemented or not. It’s a series of many small things that add up to one big result – your search engine presence. No matter what little element you start with, just start gradually chipping away at the SEO mountain, and you’ll see your results slowly improving.

Track what your competition is doing... That is often very good strategy!

Yes I do agree. But I see them implementing our content ideas a lot because they used to have very thin content while we are were building up content a lot. They have always ranked better before we started out.

Something might be undermining our ranking like you said.

Thanks for your response.

Hello,

Care to explain this a bit? We try to get backlinks to homepage and category levels mostly but every now and then specific product pages get links.

Analyze your competitors back-links and you submit your site on these sites. Also do Social media marketing to improve traffic.
