I've decided to make a news/information site so I've bought my domain, hosting and wordpress theme. The theme comes with the option of loading placeholder content. Basically it's a way to see how a full site looks without doing anything.

Should I start with the preloaded wordpress content and try reverse engineering the content to replace it with my own? Or start from scratch?

I know next to nothing about Wordpress, and the few tutorials i've found don't really apply to this theme.

Apply the demo, that would be easy and time-consuming

Don't use the demo content, look at their demo site and use that. Plenty of tutorials on YouTube for WordPress

How much content are you planning on starting out with?

Apply the demo , Then reverse engineering where the content , categories , pages are added now you can easily rename and add your own content over there.

Yes you can install the demo data of the theme provided you like the template.

NB: before you do that, kindly head over to Reading--->>>then check {✓} discourage search bot to crawl your website.

Immediately after the demo have been installed, kindly delete all the posts that come with the theme and delete permanently from trash because if it's crawl before you delete those posts, you will have alot of errors on google search console.

You can apply the demo and see how it goes. In sometime, you can also learn something so you can then remove things you don't need.

This will surely hurt the guy; because those content might have been hosted on another website and Google will surely hold him for plagiarism in the process.

My Advise for you, unique contents should be your focus only if you wish to succeed in your online career (a.k.a IM)

if you dont know much about wordpress then its best to import the demo content. It will become easy for you to replace the existing content with new content. So the website will look same as demo

I should give some clarification. My activating the demo is not to use the content myself, but to fill out the design of the site and I can remove all the actual word content and replace it with my own.

He can disable the pages which he don't need.

If you are new to the WordPress, start with the demo. Once you will familiar and learn all the required things then switch to actual WordPress site. It won't be that much difficult to move the contents from demo site to actual site. There are number of tutorials available on the internet, you can you study them before starting.

If you are new to the WordPress then I would suggest, go with the demo site. Once you will get familiar with the all features and functionality then move your demo site to actual site. You will get number of online tutorials for learning the WordPress. It is easy.

All the best! :)
