I am just starting out with dropshipping on eBay. I found a very good product that doesn't appear to be on eBay. Made a really good looking listing.

This is basically my first time on eBay, and my first product. Thinking before I start pumping out other products, that I'd focus on quality on my first product and see if I succeed.

So far it's been a couple days, and I have 0 sales. It looks like nobody has seen my product, even though I've added it to two categories.

Is there anything I can do? The only thing I can think of is... I should be focusing more on keywords for Google (and for eBay). I basically just made my own terminology a little bit.

Tips? Suggestions? Reading online some people make it sound like when you choose the categories that your product with automatically start getting seen by people.

You can't expect results in 2 days off a new account. It may take you up to 1 year to start seeing consistent sales.

I'm not really talking about getting consistent sales though :p I'm talking about getting ANY sales. Is there anything I can do aside from waiting a year to try and get a sale?

Or is there some sort of delay on eBay's end? Or do I have to mature my account or something?

You said your product does not appear to be on Ebay... Well there may not be any interest in the item. Are you getting any views?

The keywords in your title are very important as this is how customers will find your listing. If nobody is searching for these terms you won't get any views or sales.

In my opinion the category does not matter so much as I don't think buyers actually search by category as much as by keywords. The category does matter to Ebay so if you list in the wrong one they may take your listing down.

You could use the google keyword planner or other keyword research tools to get an idea of the interest in your product as well as some alternate search terms for the item. This could be helpful in getting more eyes on your listing as search volumes in google could translate partially to searches in Ebay for buying keywords. There are other Ebay specific tools like Terapeak but I have never used them so could not advice you there.

I would suggest you stay away from any name brands in your title or any keywords that do not accurately describe your item. Name brands can get you infractions from Ebay and inaccurate keywords can lead to returns and bad feedback from buyers.

Good luck.

Since sales history is one of the primary factors in eBay ranking, it's really difficult to get sales off the bat no matter what you sell, unless you are somehow selling something that there is a large demand for but no one else is selling.

some products don't sell very well on ebay........it can take months to shift just one item.

Not just interest but your reputation matters.
If your account is old and has 100+ rating, you will attract the big buyers.
