Hi,

I am curious how do you plan your articles and start writing them?
Maybe you have any tips for a beginner writer?

Thanks!

Hello
In order to write an article or any content , it is important to know what kind of writing one is going to do. As a beginner a lot of writing practice and sufficient research can be give a start to your writing. Best will be to start writing on the topic which falls under your interest.
Thanks

I think it all starts with a title without grammar / spelling mistakes.

Starting with the choice of themes and selection of pictures

I learned to write notes in school in a classic outline (roman numerals, capitals, numbers, etc.), so that's my go-to if I'm totally stuck.

Usually though, it's just using all the features of a word processor to aid the thinking process. With a word processor, you can start writing in the middle, rearrange sentences, use word count, etc.

I believe that once you get used to writing nonlinearly, getting basic word processor functions to unconscious competence (hot-keys and all) will change your life. Maybe even how you process words, like being reverse dyslexic.

I also like to throw down ideas in brackets and go to the next thing I can articulate, like I'm skipping hard questions on the SAT. According to OG Choamsky-related studies, the brain only has space for 7+/-2 ideas at once, so the idea is to get all that shit out so there's room for more ideas.

Edit: Since I do SEO-conscious content now, I usually start with researching keywords to rank for as well as context-related keywords to make it future-proof (because natural language processing / latent semantic indexing / word2vec).

I like this man.... ;)

The best way to start is to START.

Even if you are in no mood, keep writing. You can edit a messy stuff but you can't edit something that's not written at all.

I make a rough outline and ideas, then I meditate until I start writing. I think reading enough about a subject until you can improvise the bulk of the text can be a good thing too.

I disagree. That's the last thing on the list in my opinion. Proofreading comes last, and also creating a great title that gets lots of click (without click-baiting) takes time. That's where you should put a ton of time at and doing it last is the best. When you start off, you just need to slap a title together to keep you on track. The sizzle comes last.

I'll agree with above. The important thing is to able to make the outline and fill it with text that has a title that attracts people and doesn't make them feel like they wasted their time after reading the text itself. The grammar mistakes are easily ironed out when you do finishing touches.

I think the most important aspect, at least for me, is really knowing who you're writing too. On other words; who is reading your content? Only then will you able to convert :-)

  1. Spend some time thinking before you start writing your rough draft.
  2. Compile a list of your ideas while you are thinking.
  3. Put the list in an order that makes sense to you (most to least important, sequential/chronological, etc.).
  4. Shift the list around. Take your time. You haven’t written yet, so this is when changing things around is easy. Do that.
  5. Following your list, write your rough draft.
  6. Write a final draft that shows some changes from the initial draft.
  7. Read your writing aloud, and you’ll hear mistakes and find ways to correct them.

I usually get ideas of cool articles for my niche cause I love my niche and will sometimes just think, huh nobody's ever written about this article.

I then write down what the key point I want to get across is in the middle of a blank page of paper and circle it. I then write down what types of studies/data I would need to back up my idea, whether I can run the tests myself around it on the paper and point arrows to the middle. Maybe a few quotes or other articles/books to link to and use.

I will also try and mark out different parts. The idea is always to help convey my message or key point.

Then I think of the logical structure might be something like this.

Point to be made : XYZ can't work despite ABC throwing millions at it.

1. What AbC say and do
2. What others think
3. Why XYZ can't work.

Then I will gather all the ressources needed for whatever part I feel like writing and just start writing.
It is not uncommon for me to add or remove entire sections, or flip their order.

But that generally leads to getting good kick-ass cool content.

As a beginner I used to search up three different articles which I can source content from and recycle to create my post, then I would get started on an intro that would get people engaged in what's to come, the main block of information and a conclusion that ties everything together. Make sure that your recycling attempts don't look too similar to the content, simply changing around sentences or tense won't be enough if you're aiming for quality, you really ought to give your own creative spin on the content to make it passable for clients who expect top notch writing. Also try to work out a little before starting writing, a 10 minute series of exercises usually helps my brain get into the writing state easier than if I were to just sit down on my computer and type away.

As a beginner, I started off with simple technical how-to guides and posts as that was what spiked my interest at the given point of time.

You can start off with anything, simple or complex, as long as you're interested with it and prepare a schedule for your writing. Writing requires research, thinking, patience, persistence and discipline.

I post 2-3 times a week and that's what suits me. Find what is ideal for you and start writing!
