Is ranking necessary on Ebay??

A question for the more experienced Ebay sellers. Does Ebay push some listings higher in the search results once they see the listing getting traffic, similar to how YouTube would push something higher in the search?

Good question. Ebay rankings depend on many different factors:

• Your account's age and feedback
• Title and description optimization
• Clickthrough rate on search results
• What % of people watch your listings
• What % of people purchase your listings
• Price
• Shipping time/Item location

You can try adding fake watchers or purchases but it's not guaranteed to help as many other factors also affect rankings.
It's best to simply list a lot of items and figure out what converts for your specific account.

In my experience, selling history and volume first, then feedback second.

Lots of factors. Well established accounts with tons of feedback will get you on the top of listings.
