What is going on with Bittrex?

Just want to point out that using bots is not against the TOS, most exchanges encourage the use of bots. Don't you think it would be weird that there's an API that lets you buy, sell and withdraw money from Bittrex?
It was just an example. The point here, they were breaking TOS, that's why a very small % of users were affected. Also it's temporary investigation most likely.
Too early to make the shitstorm because of few clichbite'ish headlines.

just change your exchange, there are plenty others exchange besides bittrex

i think it will be more clear if anyone who get locked tell how much money they left in their account? mine under 2k$ and its still fine, i am using 2 step fa

Rather than have people possibly making up numbers for their balances more interesting questions would be...

What country are they from?
Does their IP match this?
Do they log in from multiple devices (eg mobile data)?
What level of verification are they?

How do you know any of this? I was a Mt Gox customer when they went down, it also began with little plausible excuses like this, in the meantime the funds were being drained. They were just gaining time.

That's why I avoid crypto as it's bubble in my view.

I got news for you. Dow jones is a bubble right now as well. 99% of the economy does not participate in the stock markets, because they are too busy being productive.

There is a mysterious amount of float money right now flowing into all sorts of speculative assets.

Here's a wild guess: either big banks or some nations have found a way to create money out of nothing and they are injecting that money into the system through stock markets and cryptos, or something else is up.

We'll find out 10 years from now, in a headline that'll be forgotten in two days "banks have manipulated X or Y for 20 years and nobody noticed". Like Libor and other scandals that are quickly swept under the rug.

I can not know this for a fact, honestly. I hold nothing on Bittrex or exchanges afterall, I just use them for an hour to flip trades and send funds back to my wallets. But for a now, I did not see any real signals making to believe this. Bittrex is huge in volumes, they're taking loads of fees making them shitload of money, I don't see how they're going to benefit from draining few accounts and making a public scandal.

Either way it's just a personal opinion. Stay safe, starting from not holding your cryptos on exchanges for a long time. That's my best advice I guess.

That's called Quantitative easing. Its being done by USA Fed, ECB and many other central banks.

The US bought something like 3 trillion in bonds after the 2008 crash and I think the UK was 500 million or so. A crash in part caused by Jamie Dimon and his cronies at JP Morgan which makes it even more annoying to hear him talk about bitcoin creating money from nothing.
