whois violates my privacy rights

So someone just took my domain name and made an app... now I can't use the app name in iTunes. What a troll... it's totally this person as he launched the app this month and I bought the domain last month. he now has a wordpress site with the domain I bought as a subdomain. I`m kinda annoyed. When will whois stop violating privacy of domain owners. Now I have to wait to buy domains when I discover a niche... untill I launch apps and file patents. This is bull shit.

Have you registered the sub-domain? You must have the main domain with you for working of the sub-domain. If the main domain belongs to you then sub-domain will be yours only.

Regarding whois information, you should hide the whois details if you are not comfortable to display them publicly. For that, you will need to enable the domain privacy which will need to order from your current domain registrar so whois information won't be visible publically.

Nothing to do with whois or subdomains. The OP clearly stated that someone created an app with his domain name. Anyone could have done that without whois information. The only recourse would be to ask Apple to intervene... good luck!

As for subdomains, they belong to the domain owner. If you own foobar.tld there is nothing to prevent you from creating google.foobar.tld or any other subdomain.

*IF* the wordpress site is on wordpress.com you could appeal to wordpress.org/com and see if they can force him to change it.

Beyond that, thank you for giving us all a heads up. From now on, registering a domain should go along with registering domain.wordpress.org, domain.blogger.com and domain iTunes app and so on. Good sound advice.

Before posting anything, it is better to have a look at the privacy terms of the website. And if the problem occurs despite that then may be you can add a filter to who views your comments or website. With the presence of many spam sites, events like this keep occurring.
