Hi,

The story so far…

- I am a Java programmer, so I built my own bot to promote my photography on Instagram.

- Went on like-spree for my niche, liked every 30-seconds for four days (all day/night).

- Worked a treat, got about 80/90 new followers a day.

- Fifth day got a 24-hour like-ban (understandable I suppose).

- Switched off for two days.

- Two days ago I switched back on and limited to 1000 likes/day.

So now its back up, running and liking with no restrictions. But the engagement is way down, I am only getting several new follows each day L

Is Instagram blocking me in some way? I logged on to Instagram with a separate account and I could find my photography posts via my hashtag. Also when I used my photography account to like a picture on my separate account, I can see my photography account like.

Maybe I just had four lucky days?

I always wonder what people think how dumb the Instagram algorithm is. Do you really think you can get away with liking a steady and fix amount of images every day without going unnoticed by a very sophisticated computer script? You're account has been flagged and that is an irreversible damage to your engagement.

So you think it's permanent? It doesn't feel too bad, maybe my account will only be flagged for two weeks?

Also how is my engagement throttled/restricted? People can still find my photos and receive my like requests. Maybe I am not suggested anymore?

Some people recommend disabling your instagram account for a few days/week and then reactivating it. Haven't had the chance to try it out myself though.

From what i have heard from many people here on the forum and some other sources these kind of limitations to your exposure are permanent, yes. What do you mean with "it doesn't feel so bad'. I'm not sure if feelings are a accurate measurement here :D

Maybe. There are many ways Instagram can limit the way you get exposed to other users.

When i have similar issues like less likes, my # doesnt show up etc i just take a break from any instagram activities for like 3 days and it helped, i recommend u to do the same thing, aswell i would lower the amount of likes per day. There are many opinions about the amount ofcourse but for me it's a bit too much, that can be a problem aswell or the time between giving a like. And about # and photos, try not only login by other accs but aswell on other proxies

Bot has been deactivated since last night.

My approach on Twitter is to like one post/minute, from 8am to 10pm, Tues - Saturday. No problems yet...

You are usually limitted to 100/150 actions per hour!
If you exceed you get banned for 24 hours, after the ban you have a penalty! For unknown period of time, try seeking a #hashtag that you been using and see
if you apper on it, if you are showing up on that keyword! Everything is okey,, analytics seems to act wierd after limitation cause you didnt done any activity as you said,, if you dont appear on your hashtag you got shadowed! There is nothing to do about it, even letting rest won't affect at all

Isnt shadowing just for business accounts?

He didn't mention that, its doesn't matter much even a big public page can get shadowed as i said you need to check the hashtags,, when i was building my profiles with outdated ninjagram this happend to me
You can call it whatever you like but its was a shadow ban for more then 40 profiles non of them appear on the search engine with the relevant hashtags, 0 engagment 0 followers flow!! Still accessable through a direct url but no natural gain & presance at all

OK I searched for one of my posts with an obscure hashtag, and it came back.

None of my stuff makes it near the top of any searches though, even if it has the most number of likes...
