Just watched Blade Runner 2049

I just came back from cinema watching Blade Runner 2049 (in 3D + Dolby Atmos of course!). Fantastic movie, awesome story and a very special dystopian atmosphere. I absolutely recommend watching it.

For a movie like that it's absolutely worth it to go to the cinema. Don't stream it in crappy 720p quality.

I loved it saw it last night here in Mexico on the "super platinum imacro screen" great movie! Girl I took on the date hated it, said it was too long then said wtf is this shit were they high when they made this.

I think you have to like scifi to like it and it helps if you saw the first one.

The 5 lines at the beginning explaining the robot rebellion and past events dont help a newb, when she read those she said "Oh fuck you Vlad your never choosing the movie again" XD

I never considered even watching that movie. I think I've grown a bit tired of "dystopian future" movies after watching the entire Terminator franchise (it takes place in the "present", but it's still a theme), both Maze Runner movies, Interstellar (one of my favourite movies), The Hunger Games, Purge, all of the Planet of the Apes movies (new and old), all of the X-men movies, Chappie, Divergent... You get the point. It's like these filmmakers have run out of ideas.

Also, after watching Interstellar, I don't feel like any dystopian future movie is going to top it at this point. It's made most of the others feel a bit underwhelming.

They didn't run out of ideas....most scifi movies are based on a core principle of masses pshicology. Humans have e tendency to self destruct....would u watch a scifi movie about a future where all humans are happy, healthy and rich without a dark hidden twist. I don't think so.

yeah i enjoyed, i didn't think it was as full as the first one, in terms of on screen goodness,
apart from that scene where he was walking home after passing the first obey test.

You can make a sci-fi movie without it being set in a dystopian future (e.g., "Back to the Future II", "I, Robot", and "The World's End"; although the latter's ending turns into a dystopia).

Oh man, Interstellar? I'm seeing you in a whole new light, Zwielicht. I mean, it could've been beautiful. The accretion disk shots are incredible but.. the dialogue. I'll leave this without comment:

No, actually I will comment. Christopher Nolan does not get women. Or children. Still not convinced about the men, either. But he does do "pretty" extraordinarily well.

However, World's End is one of my favourite films so I guess we can still be friends. And the ending isn't a straight dystopia so it still fits well into your rule

I liked the original but didn't fancy seeing this remake, but it's on my list when I'm next near a cinema.

In the UK they've just made a remake <sniggers> of the old tv series Porridge, and it is a pile of shit. I watched about 3 minutes before turning the tv over.

While the explanation was neat (I also liked it because I recalled a similar explanation being given on "Through the Wormhole"), I was thinking, "Shouldn't he already know this being a trained NASA pilot and an ASTRONAUT?" I mean, I get that it was an explanation meant for the audience, but you see the problem here.

The World's End was awesome. Never before did I think I would be on the edge of my seat screaming at my television saying, "Get the last beer! Get it! Get it! Get it!".

*yoink* stolen. I make up non-canon reasons that allow me to continue loving films I really shouldn't. I'll give this another go using your logic. Using Barthe's "death of the author" theory, technically it's true anyway because it doesn't matter what the director intended, just what you perceive as the viewer. It's your head, your universe, you make the rules.

Matthew McConaughy never really convinced me as a man of science. Too similar to Doctor Marky Mark.

I think 4.9 out of 10 is very generous, it was painful to watch him try to copy the mannerisms of Ronnie Barker when he played Fletch.

I thought Blade Runner 2049 was ok - obviously not as good as the original film but it had the same tone and feel to it without being just a direct copy.

My biggest complaint was that it's one of those films that think showing lots of naked women's bodies is "artistic".

Also, it was way too grey at some points. What is it with films nowadays and their aversion to colour?
