What is up with IPAGE hosting? The renewal cost 4 times the original price. Keep an open eye on renewal prices!!

Hey, i cannot get into my customer portal... whats happening?
Me either, I was hoping that it wasn't my site having too many plugins, now I'm a bit more relieved... Still annoyed though. Not a good sign for joining a new host, it doesn't inspire trust or confidence in the future.

Hey Team!

We have a pretty thick firewall with a lot of mod_security rules. More than likely your IP was blocked for that. We have not had any downtime in over 18 months outside of kernel reboots.

Make sure you email [email protected], this forum is not for support as we do not check it as much as we wish we could.

I understand this is not the place for support, that's a given. However, when it is impossible to even visit your website itself, it is impossible to get in contact with support. I have heard this excuse many times in the past, from many different hosts, and it got old long ago. Is it really common that two totally different customers would experience this at the same time, and be blocked from the business website itself? You are telling me that your firewall blocks IP's from going to your company site as well? Blocking residential IP's and even cell phones on a separate network? This is obviously questionable, to say the least.

We're an open company, if there was an issue with one of our servers we would own up to that. Actually there was an outage on a VPS node this morning for about 45 minutes while we rebooted for a security update and VPS containers take a while to spin back up after they are rebooted. Which we notified the customers on that server of beforehand. Our web site, customer portal nor billing system are hosted on this server however.

Yes it is very possible that the website blocked you and others if it hit a mod_security rule. It happens all the time until we whitelist it. Not that I have to explain this to you but a copy of our website is probably hosted on the same server as you are on. We do this for failover purposes and often move the main site around. As we do the billing system as well (customer portal).

However, if you cannot get to our site you can ALWAYS email [email protected] and it will get to our staff.

We have a 30 day money back guarantee. If you're unsatisfied, I understand. Email our support department and we'll get you your money back.

I see. Well, I don't want a refund, I want to give this more time to see just how good the service actually performs. If this was a one time fluke than fine, but if not, I am sure I will find out before 30 days is up. Also, anecdotal evidence of openness is meaningless and just hearsay or spin. That doesn't instill confidence in a customer, doing things properly without excuses is what impresses quality on a customer.

Furthermore, the attitude that "you don't have to explain this to me" is a hostile attitude for you to take as a service provider. Nor does a "copy" of the website being on the same server as my site have anything to do with it blocking multiple IP's or having outages. I am not as worried by the actual outage (for whatever reason, or whatever it was), as much as I am by your attitude and your treatment of the issue. It is hardly a professional response. We will see what happens in the future, but you would do well to treat your paying customers with a little more respect and consideration, and a bit less attitude.

After some time with the service, I will be able to give it a proper review, until then I will be trying to work on my websites. Good day!

We allow all content that is legal in the united states. Since there is freedom of speech here in the US, I do not think you'll have a problem.
