What exactly should you post on web 2.0 sites. Article or just profile link?

I am new to link building but I have a good understanding on how it works, I am trying to build quality links to my money site and am using web 2,0's with high page rank/authority. My question is, what exactly do you post in these sites. Do you post an article and hyper link your keyword or do you just need to create a personal profile and drop your link there?

Because of articles you can define your niche, thats the use of those links actually.
The link becomes related to your topic because of the posts and rich media.

Ideally you create a web20 blog about your niche, with good content and media in it. Then you send a link to your site. By doing so, your link has the same topicality as your money site, which most SEO believe gives more weight to that link.

I normally post articles onto the web2.0 properties, and then point it back to my money site. Some web2.0 has good authority, and they may even surpass your site's ranking, which is also a good bonus. Otherwise, there is also a way to hijack that expired web2.0's authority by performing a 301 redirect, javascript redirect, and point that back to your money site.

But why would they be "expired"?

What I do is, I create 7-10 web 2.0 properties and treat them as if they are my own sites. It's not easy writing unique content for ten sites, so I write one good article, 1000-1500 words using LSI and keyword variations.

Next, I "hand" spin the original article. I literally go through the article and try to create three variations of each small segment of text, to the point were a single sentence might have three or four spintax segments that each have three variations. I do the same thing with the H1/H2/H3 tags. The advantage here is, you will probably know your niche better than any commercial spinner, AND can use appropriate sentence structure variations that will look/read better than a commercial spinner.

On a thousand word article, it usually takes me a good hour to go through and manually do the spintax. After that, you can find a free online article spinner that will take an article in spintax format (without adding any additional spintax), then spin it for the 8-10 web 2.0 sites. I insert different images, at different locations in the paragraphs. I use page title variations. I add link(s) to my site, some to the home page, some to important inner pages, from different keywords in different paragraphs/parts of the article, so they are not all the same.

A few days later, I will write another article, then manually spin it, then add those to the primary web 2.0s. After that, I try to do one or two a month and keep building them up.

Use these as your "primary" web 2.0 properties. Some people proceed to buy up GSA/Wikilink spam links. What I do, is order the cheap web 2.0 packages and point those to my "primary" web 2.0 properties. Sort of like a "double buffer." The main reason I do this, is I want to protect the time I've put into my "primary" (quality) web 2.0s, so I buy web 2.0 packages to those, then I can spam the cheap web 2.0s that point to my primary 2.0s without worry of losing my primaries, if they get whacked.

The next thing on my list, is to build a "primary" web 2.0 network of 7-10 different web 2.0 properties, then buy 6 web 2.0 packages to point to each of those primary web 2.0s. The idea being a massive passdown of authority to a single set of primary web 2.0s that point to my money site.

You need to mix your web 2.0s, use different themes if using WP, different number of articles etc, etc.
It all depends too on which platform you're building on.

On few blogs post content and for few just profiles.
