I am now hosting a wordpress ecom site on Godaddy's share hosting & planning to use SSL. There are paid one and FREE one in the market. i shall use Stripe as a payment gateway & I dont know how to choose for that.

There are few things i want to know better:

1, Does FREE SSL Benefits SEO?
I saw an article from google webmaster blog give a tips that use SSL 2048-bit key certificates. So if using FREE SSL (DV) such as Cloud Flare or Let's encrypt, could this fulfill the requirement of benefiting SEO?

2, Security for payment
I know the basic requirement of accepting payment shall be 128 bit level encryption. Does FREE SSL provide enough security towards collecting payment?

Thanks a lot!

1. SSL/HTTPS sites gets a ranking boost when compared to non-https sites as Google made SSL as a ranking factor in their Algorithm. So yeah, SSL definitely helps with your SEO and it doesn't matter if the SSL is FREE/Paid.

2. Let's Encrypt's FREE SSL provides enough security for encrypting data while collecting payments as mentioned in stripe's site.

SSL is SSL and it is all fine if i am not wrong. There might be some special features with any good or high paid ones but if someone ask for SSL, it is just fine even if this one is free.

Until you go for EV SSL :)

Is this not the same as this?

Thanks for your information!
I know Cloud Flare also provide Free SSL. In my point of view, it is the easiest one to install without much configuration & verification. It auto redirect all www. non www. to HTTPS. However, i heart some ppl comment that their FREE SSL is not 2048-bit key certificates. So how can i check for that?

Thanks a lot!

First say no to Godaddy hosting. You will be glad you did as it may well be the worst hosting choice ever. Seriously dude just say no..

1. There is not currently an SEO benefit from using https: (there probably will be in the future) however there is a conversions benefit because visitors will not be getting browser warning when they come to your site. The lets encrypt ssl certs will work just fine and should not give out any warnings.

2. I would imagine it will also be OK with stripe but to be 100% positive I would check directly with their support to make sure rather than get the info second hand.
