Modern fiat currencies are still pegged to a lot of consumer and producer items though and that adds stability to them. Also, everyone in an economy is required to accept fiat currency of that domain as legal tender. That gives the fiat currency a lot of value and the fact that prices change very, very slowly gives the currency stability. BTC has none of that and that is why it keeps jumping up and down like a yoyo.
Right, lets go back to your original point: bitcoin has no real value. Which it doesn't. And nor does legal tender in any other country.
If you think currency is stable only by consumers and producers you are crazy. In the U.K we have the BoE that sets interest rates, that is pretty much the only reason the GBP is stable.
I admit, BTC doesn't have stability, which is a requirement of currency, but that doesn't mean it has "no value".
Yes you can, each wallet needs to connect to the hive via an IP address over then internet and all of that metadata is logged and monitored globally by fiveyes and other agencies with access to their own internet traffic like the chinese and russians. There's probably historical records of every single btc transaction that ever took place in archives.
But besides all these intel agencies even a pleb with a web browser can reconstruct much of the transactions of a wallet's addresses on blockchains. So this actually makes btc less private than something like paypal or CCs. So no, you cannot "follow the money" with any FIAT currency unless you have access to private transactional records. However with btc you just need a web browser.
How easy do you think it is for criminals to spoof IP address and metadata? I mean really, you think they are that stupid to access this stuff without being anonymous?
Also, when you say "all data", that is wrong. There is plenty of ewallet services that don't save data of the users. And you can't get IP addresses either if an ewallet is used.
And when I said, you can "follow the money", what you are referring to with blockchain is exactly what I meant. Meaning, any LE or investigators could check the blockchain and your bank accounts to see if the meet at any point. So yes, following the money is an option.
Who is CR? I was talking about silk road but it could be anything. Since they can track every single crypto transaction ever and also link it to IP addresses and proxy chains they have the ability to reconstruct everything and know who is buying and selling what. So this anonymity is just an illusion, the buyers and sellers are only anonymous to an extent from the general public and not from anyone monitoring the worldwide network.
I mean SR, as in Silk Road.
And no. they didn't use bitcoin. How many times do you want me to tell you? the retard that made the site used his public email to advertise the site with his full name in it. LE also copied the server. They also were moderators on the site.
THEY DID NOT reconstruct every transaction on the site.
And one last point for you brain box, if it is so so easy to track these people, then why is there endless darknet marketplaces selling guns, drugs and childporn with bitcoins? Surely, you could just track them or reconstruct every possible transaction and figure out their location with their IP address, right sir?
