Are dropped/deleted domains with backlinks effective for PBNs?

I was wondering if any of you are registering dropped/deleted domains with clean history and backlinks and if it's working out to be worthy of a PBN?

Thanks

Depends on a lot of factors. If you're saying it's clean; never used as a PBN before, indexed by Google, clean backlink profile and anchor text - it really depends on its value to Google and how long it's been dormant. If the cost of a domain and hosting for a couple of months is too much for you to risk, I'd scrape the idea of building your own PBN. If you can eat the costs of a domain and hosting for a few months so see if it has potential value, and all of the above pass, then do it.

Oh abso-freaking-lutely.

Expired / Dropped domains are the cornerstone of the PBN industry. There aren't many people building PBNs on new domains.

Whether the domain is dropped or not has minimal impact on SEO.

There's just two things you can do depending on your budget.

Normal domains that can be found freely online are always expired and always will be, otherwise they would not be free for registration. These are pretty much basic building blocks of most PBNs.

If your budget is high enough, you can always go to auctions, get non dropped domains there, but expect to pay up. Auction prices for domains are growing exponentially and any half decent domain will be at least $100-$200.

Of course! At least the old domains with good link Juice! New domains have zero juice.

I do have dropped + expired domains and they are still good for, with the link juiced from the past sites still effective. Of course, try to screen these domains thoroughly before purchasing.
A good domain has TF>20, and it's pretty hard to scam the TF for a domain, and linking the domain with spam links do not increase TF and if domain has high spam links the TF won't be that high.
Secondly, you may go through DA/PA metric - I always choose 30-35 to be a good indicator for a good site, but DA/PA can be manipulated, thus make sure you screen the backlink profile.

I see a lot of expired domains of decent link profile that were used to make a Chinese or Japanese site, then dropped, but still indexed. Do you guys think a change of language like that will send the wrong signal to google, which will then demote (not penalize) such a site?

Just don't make the mistake I did. Blacklist check it first.

As long as it has never been used for PBN before and has good metrics, if it has clean history, you can use that. Always do a due diligence.

whats your take on snapping services?
are those domains then in fact "dropped", even for a few minutes or hours?
also, the snap service should be in historical whois data..

if it's one metric, than can be manipulated , it's TF. just shood some no value crapcomments and high "TF" sites and wait 3 months.

I so don't care if the domain was dropped or is expiring, expired, whatever. It has minimal impact on stuff. The most important factor here is, that the domains are not fully indexed, so the age of content has reset. As long as that has happened, then I don't care about the status.

So if i ad this up, you let the expired age for some while before adding some external links ?

Who are the best auction sites ?

Only before adding links to my money site. I normally link to some classic "masking" sites.

Godaddy and Namejet should be enough for you to get some domains.

you can scrape your own domains for free! there is absolutely no need to go to auction and pay out the a**

And this whole theory that "there are not alot of domains left" is BS and put out there by certain people so they they can sell you the crap they have making you think its the only thing left...thats my 2 cents

if you find some expired domains or deleted that have good backlinks point to them check over the anchor text and run it through wayback to make sure it was always the same domain and not hacked or used for PBN purpose

Once you get the process down you will know what to look for and it takes a matter of minutes to analyze a site

Thank you for the invaluable information, no idea what I would do without it. :)

Yes I agree it takes me very little time, as I have done it for many years, true.
