Anyone else notice this? Try sending a link in a chat, there is no more hyper link. This is gonna suck big time.

have you try to send it written Instead

like link:contact.com

still get traffic from copy and paste from chat or not...?

so they see your info ....

No links are being hyperlinked on desktop version of Facebook. www.blahblah.com doesnt work and http://www,blahblah.com doesnt work. Copying/pasting links doesn't work. I'm thinking it's a bug because I think this hurts Facebook more than does good. Who knows.

Makes no sense... I would be reaaaally surprised if this is the case.

Havn't you heard, google microsoft, facebook, they all agreed to ban the pesky hyperlink once and for all.

Just checked and yes links are not working in messenger anymore. Another down for those promoting CPA offers. Thanks for pointing this out OP I think the update was done only within the last few hours as I was still able to share link yesterday.

Links still are hyperlinked on mobile messenger. I don't know for how long though...

Sent an Instagram profile link to a friend over web and it worked fine.
Hyperlink and thumbnail is appearing.

My post was referring to chat messages not over wall posts. Also seems like only desktop isn't registering the hyperlink. Can you clarify if you sent via chat or wall?

This was sent over chat. Are we talking about same thing or different?

http://prntscr.com/gp088f Definitely weird. I think it's looking more like a bug to me. No reason why one should be hyperlinked and the other not. Looks like instagram is the only thing being hyperlinked atm.

I guess FB hopes people will just click on the thumbnail but I still don't see how they come out winning from this one. IMHO it does more harm than good.

Actually that makes a lot of sense. Why would any site be interested in providing live linking, which drive visitors away from their site? Disabling live linking also has the benefit of stopping a good portion of the spammers. Less spammers, more visitors staying on the site. Sounds a like a "two birds with one stone" kinda deal to me. Instagram is owned by FB, those links are still live. Makes sense.

Just sent one on Firefox and it wasn't linking. This could be another huge kick in the gonads, if this is their next move.

Gonna have to disagree with you on that one. I think it's going to cause more of an inconvience to most users. People share links all the time throughout the day. Not being able to click it will just be flat out inconvienent. Everyone will lose, including Facebook.

+1

But you can still click on the link... they just need to click the preview instead of the link text right?
