Webhosting Profitable?

Hello BHW!

I am looking at into starting my own website design studio, but I decided maybe it might be worth it to look into having my own hosting company. I know the technical side, and the business side.. but with how many big names there are it seems like it may not be worth it.

What do you think?

Its a very competitive market. So unless you have a nieche in mind, it might not be worth it. Do you have alot of money and time to invest into it?

There is always room to make some profit. Your best option to really get going is to get you a reseller web hosting account. Then for the customers that you design web sites for part of the package they get they sign up with hosting with you.

Then work these clients and ask for referrals. Its not something you are going to make a ton of money with over night. It will take time, money and hard work. But if you stick with it then yes you can make some good money in the hosting market.

i think there is big demand for vps reselling, but normal website hosting is a headache, you will spent 70% of the time answering stupid questions.

Would you consider that to be an in-demand niche? I think you're right about the stupid questions.. but does it make enough?

You might be right, but it's do or die time for me currently.

I thought by sharing what I need to survive may be something even feasible.

Well, I am actually am already married. But with my area I'm living, I am moving somewhere cheaper.. and at that point need some sort of income when I leave my current position.

For a person that is need for a quick cash i would not recommend jumping into the hosting business especially without a budget and idea.

if you target blackhat niche people, they want vps for their bots, hitleaps, jingling etc, works well on sites like fiverr. As far as i know.

For a person that is need for a quick cash i would not recommend jumping into the hosting business especially without a budget and idea.

I do have an idea, and a little bit of a budget.

It's mainly something to try to make profitable (even a little at that time). I will be moving without a job, but I don't have any real options because I can't afford the city I work in!

In that case, I wouldn't jump into new business. You can easily make $600/month by designing websites as a freelancer and with the profits, you can slowly build up your clientele and launch your webhosting business in the small-scale and move up from there.

You can still do the same to your web-design clients and upsell your hosting service after completion. That's how I built my clientele as well.

I have a sort of portfolio but I've been doing it on the side and never thought it'd become anything but something for fun, and spending $$$
