Expired domains, why so much tools?

Hi all

I am currently reading a lot about building PBNs around expired domains, but I don't understand something.

A lof of people, when asked "what is the best tool", answers a lot of things, from Xenu (what a shame) to Scrapbox, and online services (Register compass, Domain hunter and other paid services).

I don't understand why. As per as my test, expireddomains.net is free, and contains all domains, including before expiration (pending delete). It contains all the information needed, except maybe a list of anchors of backlinks.

So, I imagine that the game would consist to get all interesting domains with the "pending delete" state, take note of the expiration date, and then be the first to book the domains really expired once the date has passed, which is probably a question of minutes or hours. So, what is exactly the point to use other tools or services instead of setting up a script to book domains fastly?

I suppose I missed something.

expireddomains.net give you all domains that will expire on the date you want. Then, it is up to you to book the domain the first. So, what's the point of other tools?

For the market, it will be much more interesting to have a service enabling to book a list of domain names as soon as they expire in less than 1 or 2 minutes.... Don't understand why nobody is offering that, and why all services are just clone or other methods to get the same info that expireddomains.net.

It's about 2 things, volume and quality of domains. If you want high quality domains in your niche you're better off scraping these things yourself. You're going to get better results as you know you are scraping niche relevant websites with less competition from other SEOs.

Expireddomains.net is monitored by every fucker to even google the word SEO. Anything decent is gone in seconds.

Scrape your own (with domain lord, scrapebox, domcop, PBN lab, SERPDrive) and see what happens. They all crawl slightly differently do they all pick up different domains which others miss, which is great for doing what you're trying to do.

What kind of budget do you have? I'll be happy to suggest tools, I've tried them all at one point or another (except for scrapebox).

This was indeed one my initial hypothesis. But I had the source of expiring domain names from official bodies. Result? It is exactly the same listing. So??? If you say that, proof that expireddomains.net "hide" domain names. I do not want to make any ads for this website, but... well... i was not able to proof they hide some domain names with their expiration date.

1. Yes, u can find good expired domains on expireddomains.net. I got a domain on expireddomains with this metrics: TF 29 CF 21 No spam over 100 RD with 5000 Backlinks. Dont search for expired domains, search for pending delete.
2. When you dont know what you do, better buy from guys like @Nargil
Once you bought a domain from him you can compare them to the domains on expireddomains and you will see the difference.

Those services allow you to filter by different metrics and have their own way of finding expired domains. If you have time learn how to use them and which one works better for you.

DO NOT waste your money on expired domains and PBN link building or money site building IF YOU DO NOT KNOW or NEWBIE with this.

Cause it will not help you and it will waste your money.

1. Finding expired domains and search whether they are clean or not is a different task.

With expired domains finder, you can find domain list with their inaccurate metrics.

You can even scrape expired domains with scrapebox , DHG etc.

But you still need Ahrefs / Majestic SEO / MOZ and list goes like that? WHY ?

Do you need to check how clean their backlink profile? That they contain any spammy anchors ? may be referring? why it's to citations while no trust flow blah blah

Don't waste money if you don't know what you are doing. And it's not worth.

Go for a fresh domain instead.

Some people (99% are PBN sellers / expired domain sellers / SEO Agencies even Software owners who creating expired domains) Just HYPE newbies they are working nor you can't-do anything without it.

This is totally wrong. By asking such questions it makes me to think that you don't have any idea about expired domains. So with that, you are just going to lose money.

OfC you can outsource it to some legit seller here but it also won't work unless you don't know what you are doing. You can buy a guitar but what if you don't know how to play? Then again you will have to hire a guitar player too So it's endless buying


PS : I am a panic guy i search more before I pick a domain so for me just checking so-called fancy metric and just a few anchors doesn't mean anything. This is why i need multiple crawling tools/services to make a sure average. I choose one by one. Even after that, i check it's ranking ready and same day index. If it works i work on that or i won't lose my time

with tools its easier to find niche related expired domains. for example, you can put in a seed keyword and scrape through that or put in a list of seed websites.
Also, many great domains are lost amidst the 99999999 expired domains that are shown on expireddomains,net. Also, Umm.. with scraping you can find domains that expired in 2015-16 and are available for booking..like the genuie hidden gems.

Good pending delete names (if not already taken by the registrar) will usually be snapped up within milli-seconds by drop catchers. You can use services to "book" a domain as you put it, for an initial price, and those services, such as Snapnames, will try to grab the domain as it drops. But even if they do grab it, if others also booked that domain with them, it will then go to auction between the bidders. So there's no guarantee that you'll get your domain, unless you outbid the others, which can get expensive.

I will also chime in.

The process of getting expired domains consists of 2 steps.

1. You get the domains. Either you scrape them or get them from Expireddomains, it does not matter. This is the easy part that absolutely anyone can do, it's as difficult as putting stuff into a dish washer. Learning curve here is maybe an hour tops.
2. Checking them properly. This is where the hard stuff comes in. You want to make sure that your domains are not penalised or toxic and that they are completely good to use, otherwise you just waste your money. This is where 90% of work comes on. Checking archive, history screenshots, hosting history, anchors, anchor history etc. This process is completely primitive in its nature. With a bit of experience, you can tell whether or not the domain is clean from just looking at the hosting history. Yet, despite the fact how simple this process is, there are maybe 2 people I know, except me, that know how to do this check properly. This is the hard part, not the scraping. If you really want to go that way however, I've been using Domain Hunter Gatherer for years now. I have 4 instances scraping 24/7 and other domain sources as well.

And reason why you won't mostly find a decent stuff at Expireddomains. Monthly I go through what... a million domains. Out of that you can get maybe 200 domains with RD20+ and at least some TF to show for it. Everyone is scraping domains nowadays. Around 50K domains expire every day. Alright. Out of those, how many have at least some decent backlinks to be considered for a PBN? Around 1000 maybe. Out of those, how many are actually clean without any terrible history and clean anchors? Maybe 200 - 300. Now imagine how many people are out there scraping and searching for domains. Yep, demand is significantly higher than supply at the moment. So unless you can check the domains blazing fast, you have no chance of getting a decent domain from there ever. If you want to scrape, you have to scrape tens of thousands of domains to get at least some half decent ones.

Finding domains through a free website will not give you all the information you need about a domain, it won't even really give you cursory info about a domain that can be used for whittling down a large list of domains into a smaller list for manual checking. There are good reasons that users pay for tools such as DHG as it will come with tools and services to not only find domains but also to get important stats without the need for third party services (which can cost more than a DHG subscription alone). Finding good niche related domains with links from sites actually ranking in your niche are nigh on impossible to find on such sites.

Most domain sellers on the marketplace will be getting domains from auctions, drop catching or scraping with a tool like DHG. Very few, if any, will be finding good domains on free sites like expireddomains, there are many reasons for this but the main reason is the quality of the domains on free sites isn't really there and there is still a need for mass checking of domains regardless so a site like this would just be a helpful addon rather than a sole solution for finding domains.

you dont need to.
get ahrefs monthly sub from some groupbuy (it's easier than figuring your way around majestics TF..)
and buy some 200$ upwards domains from reputable sellers.

IF you dont plan to go into that stuff, it's your best decision.

However, I like to test shit, buy dumb shit sometimes, and buy expensive stuff, to see what works or doesnt.
If you have the time, feel free to start your learning curve an tool around..

You wont get any good clean clean domain with anyfirepower on open markets.
even if you'd need to filter those lists with moz + ahrefs + the tools nargil mentioned for historial cleanliness.

So basically I am right. No need for any big solution to get domain names: expireddomains.net is enough, provided that you know how to filter/check them (which is the real big value of Nargil).

What I mean is that there is no "secret domain list not published". They are all known, but the game is to a) filter b) assess c) book them in due time.

Secrets maybe not entirely, but there are things more or less known, and only the specialists understand this market well; try to:
1/ think out of the box,
2/ check country specific dropped markets, such as .fr or .ca, which have their own specific features and may present opportunities.

Usually you want to use someone who knows how to catch them, as this is a full time job in itself. The more you work on it, the more you understand it. I have a long way to understand this stuff deeper, but if you do not try, you will not learn.
