600 long-tail keywords per blog article

I am writing one blog article a day in order to catch up to our competition whom SEO much farther than ours. There is only so much i can do on backlinks a day with the budget that I have. The budget will increase over time so I can only focus so much in that department.

What i can focus on is writing blogs. What i am doing is using SEMrush to look at my competitions blog articles and keywords. I read their articles and then i write a better article on the same subject. Some of the blog articles they have have around 600 long tail keywords.

To be clear, the articles that i am writing is my own work. There is nothing copied. I am simply taking the idea and doing it far better.

What i want to do is steal their keywords and then add some more of my own. I find it incredibly time consuming to come up with 600 keywords on my own that are as good as theirs. Is this wise? Are there any negative SEO consequences to doing this?
I know that I will rank 2 on a lot of these low competition keywords until we can get better backlinks than them. Other than that what am I missing?

You are doing it exactly how you should be doing it, good job.

However, make sure that you do not blindly stick the keywords into articles and that your keyword densities aren't over the roof.

All in all, as a tactic, you are on the right track. Glad to see that at least some of the newer members have a bright future in this field.

Why don't you use their keywords in your own writings? There is no copyright on keywords! Just write a better article using the same keywords.

A method I use to get maximum keyword coverage,

1. Go to keyword planner
2. Find 3 - 5 sets(this can be as much as you want) of keywords highly related to your content
2a.(optional) You can use a include filter to ensure your main keyword is included in all returned results
3. Gather them all, then extract the unique words.

If you include all the unique words, you'll rank for much more than 600 long tails. Essentially you'd be able to rank for the full count of what you found in step 2 . It won't be highly targetted but once you start getting #1 for a few main keywords the rest will naturally rise up as well.

u mentioned semrush for getting ur competitors keywords, so how do u decide how much more density u should do? besides, isnt it the longer the content than ur competititor is needed for outrnaking them?

I just try and think about what would give the readers more value. So if my competition writes 500 words on how to do something, i write 1000 words with more research and thought. Then i put a youtube video in and then also put in picture guide. Anything I can think of to make the readers life that much better than what my competition offered.

One thing i learned about marketing is people are looking for their lives to be made easier. Whoever makes their life the easiest is going to get the purchase or the click or whatever you are selling.
