How long does it take for link building to have an effect?

I normally get results on my websites within about a week. Not talking about anything huge, but there's usually movement. You need to know what you're doing when it comes to keyword research, etc especially if you're working on a new domain.

I've been focusing my energies on another IM journey, but I recently saw some potential to (hopefully) rank a CPA website of mine. The domain already has a few no-follow backlinks (from a previous owner, I suppose) and I've added a couple new backlinks today. How long does it usually take to index? How long after adding new backlinks does it usually take to notice a change in SERPs?
well recent experience... i wrote a testimonial for a hosting site with my link within 8-10 days i see that link in my google webmaster tools account [links to your site]... also i buy gigs for pbn backlinks same period its about 20 days and they dont appear there... i talked to seo expert on fiverr they says 2-3 months.....

also do not do balck hat seo on your website is not google friendly and you'll get hit by google penalty

You shouldn't be thinking about "taking effect", but rather the individual stages.

For example, Google has to find the link by crawling the page. Popular sites are crawled more often than unpopular sites, and popular pages are crawled more often than unpopular pages.

The Forbes.com home page is crawled much more regularly than something like www.myrandomblog/articles/meaningoflife/references/article.html

Once crawled, it has to be indexed. The page will only be indexed if it meets quality standards.

You also have to consider that pages linking to the page also have to be indexed. A new page by itself has very little power to pass on. As soon as other pages are crawled that link to the page that links to your site, the page that links to your site is given more authority. But it is only when the page is recrawled again that the authority is passed to your site.

In other words:

Google needs to find the page that links to you. That could take minutes if the page is known, and on a popular site, or weeks if buried in an unpopular blog.

Google then needs to index that page. Nothing will happen if it doesn't do this.

Google then needs to crawl many other pages that link to the page that links to your site. Again, that might take minutes if the pages are popular, or weeks.

Google then needs to recrawl the page that links to you.

This is why the answers in this post are so variable. A good quality, established site that has traffic to it (PBN or not) is likely to be crawled more regularly than a new web 2.0. Build links on high quality sites, and they will pass power to you much faster than links from sites less regularly crawled.

I did some SEO to 150 pages of my website - the 150+ pages were almost identical with a small exception here and there in the content, and I did exactly the same SEO to each page - didn't do anything else after that.

Nothing happened for almost 3 months, then all of a sudden on the same day all of the pages leapt up to page 1 and 2.

Serplab looked crazy - 146 pages green and jumping by huge amounts all at the same time.

That to me says Google have built in a long time delay.

How many pages did your site have beforehand? How often was Google crawling the site, and how many pages would it crawl in one go?

From experience, Google tends to crawl a site entirely about every three months. So if it was a small site, with a small crawl budget, it would only be when Google performs a full crawl that all these extra pages would be noticed.

They weren't extra pages, they were the original pages, I did some SEO for some different keywords and on the exact same day 3 months later they all jumped up together.

The site gets crawled every day.

You have to get your backlinks up to 88 miles per hour, that's what makes ranking a site possible.

To be honest, Google has devalued spam links, or article links from spam sites tremendously, and these links have very little effect in helping to move up the SERP. On the other hand, those sites that have high authority like Wikipedia, Forbes, CNN, Techcruch, etc, if you are able to get links from these sites, then you can expect your site's authority to be bumped up many notches higher.
Spam article links used to be so effective, but they aren't working now, sadly.

Hello friend. Do you tell me, How many years old websites is good?
Depends. When I create a new website on a domain that has never been registered before, I blast 10-20 medium quality backlinks on it and leave it be for about 6 months and then I start building quality backlinks.

[UPDATE] based on recent experience you'll get your backlink indexed on Google in about 10 days but you'll get link benefit from 1 month..

I feel good to see your answer. It will be a good suggestion for me.

According to the power of the links which you build for your money site. So be patient and track the ranking.
