Hi Folks, need some advice here!
In an ecommerce store I have a category page that I would like to strenghten.

With real PR outreach I can make an article that and get some powerful news site backlinks, with my keyword that I want to rank for.

But to make this happen I have to transform my product-category page to an article page, to make sense linking to it. I will leave the original "category" content at the bottom of the page, but I will have to create an article above that stuff...

After 2-3-4 days, when I get my links I have to delete the article, because that will have obviously no use to real shoppers.

Whats your opinion on this? And how will google treat this stuff?

Are you going to keep the same permalinks etc and just change the page layout/structure?

Pretty much... I will keep everything in place. Just add an 500 words article on the top of it, that I will have to delete after
(after 2-3days when the backlinking is done).
(Or delete at least delete the half of it and move that contextual content to the bottom...)

Why not put the article below your category afterwards? That would be much less risky. Users probably won't scroll down that far if they find what they're looking for above.

404's will only harm you if you systematically do this. If pages are disappearing all the time the site will end up hand reviewed or automatically penalized.

Because I am in contact with some news sites, and I can make my article appear on them with backlinks. As soon as the articles makes sense and has real value.

If I send them an article, and in the article I have backlinks to some page, whats clearly a money page. That will not get published...

If theres some "ads", or "categorys" on the bottom of the page. No one will give a shite about that, and they will publish my content with backlinks. - Whats good for me, good for google, but clearly not good for real costumers. Thats why I have to make it disappear afterwards.

Create an article and after a while 301 redirect it to your moneypage?

so expired domains used as PBNs, if not 100% restored (cause of too many 404) will most like get penalized no matter what as well?

I think you're missing the point.

Firstly, Google will not penalise you for changing content. If it thinks your latest content is not worth ranking, it won't rank it. But it won't issue a penalty against you because you changed it.

Secondly, you could keep content on the page, using a div to hide it except when an action is taken (such as a "more information" button is clicked). Google will index this (at least in my experience it does because I have tested it).

Thirdly, why don't you do what every other legit site does and keep under the radar completely. Create an article. Get links to the article. Link from the article to your product page. Juice would still be passed to your product page. Just keep the link near the top of the article page surrounded by relevant text.

I think that isn't correct. My experience is that 404s don't harm a site at all.

A temporary glitch where it shows 404s is ok. If you systematically have 404s coming and going in the site it'll end up penalized. Google has a historic for sites.

Why would you add an article then remove it? Plan your page structure better and come up with something that would be appropriate for outreach links, users as well as search engines.

You might be correct if the URL is the same, i.e. if a URL of /article.html returns a page one day, then a 404 the next then a page the day after. That is something I have no experience of that you seem to have. I'll defer to your experience.

To clarify on what I was saying, the sites I have seen have hundreds of URLs that return a 404 permanently (perhaps they should be changed to 410s) and have other pages ranking number 1.

Keeping the category section above would be good as this will keep the viewers to visit your site. And according to me, 404 do not cause any harm to your site.

I really have no idea why you guys talking about 404s. I have never mentioned that.
Let me clarify this situation one more time: (maybe I wasnt so clear as i tought)

I have a category page called ---> domain.com/scissors <----- thats the page I am ranking
on this category page I have plenty of subcategorys, like: long scissors, short scissors, colored scissors etc,etc...

I want to power up this page with some real PR and outreach links.

As soon as everyone sees that this is a "money" page, no-one will link to it for free.
I decided to hide somehow these sub-categorys, and create a huge useful article about "scissors" on the same url - domain.com/scissors.
Then I make the PR outreach, and I will get some great links from news sites with backlinks pointing to my page, because it will be a useful article, and not some money making stuff.

After 1-2-3 days, when everything is settled, I need to delete the article (not the url or the page, just the topping article content) because it makes no sense to real costumers, to land on some article, while he wanted to buy some stupid scissors.
After deleting the post, the subcategorys will stay in place, as it was before...

The question is that If I am getting backlinks for a page or an article, than I delete the most of the article. Will I get penalized somehow? (backlink anchors will be url, and branded, i will made sure of that)...

Nice tought, thanks!

This sounds like manual cloaking.
