Keyword difficulty issues with Traffic travis, long tail pro and kwfinder

I was able to run a keyword through Traffic travis, long tail pro and kwfinder and i will have to say, i do not understand why they create varying figure with too much space that makes you wonder if the figures are not being pulled randomly.

The keyword had the following result:

Traffic travis: EASY there was no score, except average PA= 15 and average DA= 2
Long tail pro: 31 HARD
Kwfinder: 25 EASY

Obviously, LTP is the odd one out, but i want to be sure others have ecountered something like this and what advice can you offer, seeing that i am obviously confused.

This tools were supposed to make things easier but they seem to complicate things more.

These algos were all made by different people. You should never compare difficulty scores between tools. Only compare difficulty scores between keywords using the same tool.

A 30 from KWFinder is probably easier than a 40 from KWFinder, but you truly don't know which factors are weighted the most. The algo doesn't understand that the keyword "Product X Sale" might seem easy, but Google wants an eCommerce site, not your info article on how to get the product cheaper.

Don't lean on these scores too much. They're guesses. Get good at examining the competition with your eyes and brain.

I only just compared the keyword across three platform to get a correlation and not something as skewed as this.

Just always make an effort to look at the top results and figure out why you think they are ranking. What do the pages have in common, etc? Are all of the sites eCommerce sites where you can buy the product, then it's probably not a good info keyword, etc.

It will take time, but as you make yourself do it, you'll get more comfortable identifying more difficult niches. I use the difficulty scores from the tools as just another metric to compare, but it's far from the only metric I use. I've often selected more difficultly scored keywords because I felt they were easier.

In my experience, KWFinder is the best tool I've found so far for keyword research. LTP used to be great, but they botched this migration over to SaaS and ignored their customer complaints. I'm happy I bought the tool in its golden years. I've made a lot of money from the data crunched in that tool, but now I exclusively use KWFinder. It's also pretty nice being able to do keyword research on my mobile when I have a few free minutes.

KWfinder is my favorite.
I find it entertaining to come up with ideas to search and dream of the possible money that can come with low competition keywords.
BTW, i shoot for 20 and under keyword difficulty.

I love using kwfinder for casual kw research. But its difficulty scores is very inaccurate as it depends on moz data, which is awful. Its kw difficulty is only good at spotting authority sites. You'd need to check it manually with ahrefs/majestic to get the real picture.

I haven't used long tail pro, but it uses majestic (used to use moz), so I might give it a shot.

I have recently stumbled across a Keyword that KWfinder marked a 40 but not a single website was targeting it, no titles, no metas, no headers, some completely unrelated. That is when it becomes highly useful to be able to manually search.

I used your tip on the manual checking of competition and it is worth it, I can actually throw out those tools since my judgement was better.

I encountered another issue, I found really great keywords but the MS is so low like 20,50, 90 and I am wondering if they are worth creating a niched website for, I could only get 10 good keywords for a niche.

This creates another scenario, since I am getting such low MS, should I create a general review blog where I can write on best scanners today and tomorrow I am writing on best chainsaw, targeting easy keywords and more keywords.

This question may seem dumb, well I am dumb, and all the knowledge I got here is what pushed me this far, because I am new very this.

Anyone else should give me pointers too.

You won't make a killing, but what a lot of people do is aggregate a lot of those keywords and make a site out of it. For example, 10 keywords at 90 MS won't be a ton of traffic (consider you'll only get about 60% of that traffic if you're ranked #1 for all keywords), but across 100 or 1000 articles, you'll be pulling a much fairer amount of traffic. Pair that with some well-targeted affiliate offers and you can make a good income.

I favor new people going after small keywords like that because it lets you get some quick wins and get a feel for keyword targeting. It's extremely discouraging in the beginning when you choose keywords that are too difficult. Good luck to you.
