How well does the Youtube streaming method works?

While searching for some chilling lofi music I bumped into this video yesterday :

It's a permanent streaming video that has been running for more than 6 months with more than +1500 tracks (check the description for more details).
Users are quite active on the chat and there are some links in the description for tips and donations..

How could this method work and how successful it is? Did anyone of you guys try it?

You need to have some PC or VDS server to run streaming software. Here you can find official youtube software support.google.com/youtube/answer/2907883?hl=en
And you need to make remixes or your own music to stream it. If you will use music with out any processing/remixing etc you will get strikes from owners soon.

I think this is non-competitive niche right now.

How much do you estimate the costs to settle all of this?
And given the amount of tracks this guy streams I doubt he owns any rights in most of them.
He seems to earn money through donations at first glance but I'm not sure wheather or not there is something else...

I'm a YouTuber. Setting up an endless stream is not the problem, it's just hard to get viewers for your stream if your channel doesn't already have any kind of fanbase

i think it will cost 30-50 for VDS server + time for creating music, design, installation. And of course some $$$ money to promote your chanel

Very good niche right now, just stream unique music ( mix by yourself ) and you can scale up fast

Been intrigued with this also for a while now, with music background doing this will be a piece of piss, just the monetizing part might be difficult.

hmm good thread guys but i see also some channel using mix music of popular song (maybe mayde it for himselfs too) and alre monetizated! soo if i mixed good many popular song can bypass copyright and make money? there are a trick to make money like that?

That's precisely what I was saying earlier. There is no way the guy who streams that have any rights over more than 1500 music titles!
Either he gots money only for donations, either they are all free to use songs (which I highly doubt), either he found a way to bypass the strikes and copyrights issues...

well i know some people streaming 24/24 because the copyright be effectes only when the videos ends. ofc the ads don't make money but make money with donation ofc, annd maybe do it this to get subscrbers and when this finish and you channel be 2 strikes maybe finish to upload for 3 months when the copyright be finished this repeat the method or simple upload no copyirhgt content (maybe gameplay ecc) but with donation this guy make money and with the subs you can make money with ads and be a famous youtuber. this is what i think, but what i ask i see some people make like best summer mix of popular music and be monetized. how did this channel make money with popular mix? if you mixed good you bypass copyright?

The best way would be to use non copyrighted music, I create my own music and can be very time consuming.
NCS is one of if not biggest channel with loads of tracks, you could effectively convert all or most videos to mp3 and compile a list along with track artist, track name & give credits in description
the longer you stream, the more people will see it and it will grow but it may take sometime but it will grow
there's a guy on YouTube doing really well playing fallout 4 tracks 24hrs at a time and also accepts donations and people have donated.

Also I found that a few tracks I remixed bypassed copyright and some didn't, I believe that this is due to the vocals. if I used a studio acapella then the track would be picked up but if I used a diy acapella the the signal of the vocal has changed as quality has dropped. so if the vocal quality had changed then I bet it would be good to use

It costs 0 cents to set up live streams on YouTube. It is simple so no need to use your(other on thread) brain and assume some top notch classics.
He doesn't need to own any rights to the music. All those music tracks are Non-Copyrighted so you can use them for FREE. I hope that helps. Also instead of asking if others did that (Which you know that noone did so far on BHW) it's better to observe this guy who is a live example.

The biggest problem is how to get the viewer to your live-streaming.

I've tried streaming copyrighted music as is, YouTube doesn't wait until your stream is over and then drop a punishment on you. Maybe it was like that some time ago, but now if it detects copyrighted music, it gives you a notification that the stream is currently muted duet to copyright issues. The visitors will just see a YT logo but no music playing until the copyrighted track ends. Then the stream continues like normal. But even if you bypass the copyright problem or create music on your own doing all this whitehat style, the question is: how you can get the live visitors for a channel that hasn't any fanbase so far?
