I was searching for .gov & .edu like a freak, finally i got some d o f o l l o w links from .edu

since, i do quality above quantity thing, now question arises in my mind is i'm getting d o f o l l o w link from a profile page in .edu site whose niche is far more different then mine. Will it compromise my link quality with content-niche thing ?
I've heard that .gov and .edu is like a gem in SEO, but is it true in my case ?
Thank you in advance

One link won't compromise anything. If you overdo it... possibly. Enjoy the link, it won't cause some massive serp boost for sure, but as a slight firepower/diversity link it's more than decent.

So should i go with it ? wouldnt it compromise my quality above quantity thing ?

Editorial links, regardless of their tlds are always helpful. So if you can find .edu or .gov links from powerful sources, they would be great. Cant say much about profile type of links.

Took that into account

just don't overdo it . remember its 2017 its all about diversity and relevance nowadays ;)

It helps, though much better if you can find something relevant. But as long as you wont be spamming, i think you will be fine.

It's almost impossible to find .edu sites that will be relevant to your niche, unless your niche is education based. .gov sites, to an extent, can be relevant to your niche. But then again, .edu and .gov links are powerful DA boosters and helps tremendously in SEO. I cannot say the same about profile links.

Well that answered plenty of my doubts..
