that's one of those tools/methods that USED TO work...the only people in SEO or any sector of marketing nowdays who will tell you otherwise is either:
A) Trying to sell you a bot
B) Trying to sell you fake traffic created by a bot they purchased and needs you to believe it actually has value
C) Is a so-called "SEO" using that as a smoke in mirrors tactic to keep you on board waiting for the anticipated "benefit" to be had in the SERPS that the fake traffic would allegedly bring months down the road - after which you'll realize that no such "reward" or "payoff" exists, and your site will either be de-indexed, banned by one or more ad networks, still nowhere to be found in SERPS or any combination of the above....
Reality: There is a LOT more to it than search VOLUME - bots create fake traffic...and it's obvious...spoofing the referrer is nowhere near enough...spoofing referrer and geo is still never gonna cut it...even throttling traffic to spread out evenly through a bot won't cut it...
Analytics capabilities are INSANE...a bot is not going to mimic a genuine human visitor, there are not enough unique actions/behaviors that wouldn't match identically with another "page browsing pattern" often enough to be flagged as a bot, not to mention 99% of them (if they even show up in GA) will show as visit time >30s and bounce rate over 98% - which would BURY you in the serps.... you're better off going to a credible PPC traffic source, buying display ads, posting (but not spamming) on reddit pintrest fb and tumblr and twitter, and creating content people will actually find useful and interesting...
Just my experience pls correct me if I'm wrong
