On my blog titles, I use long tail keywords with a search on google between 0 and 40 000 results. You don`t want to get ranked for higher volume keywords.

I've been blogging for years. Just find a topic that you are passionate about, write often and engage with the community beyond your blog - on twitter, etc. It takes about 6 months to really get going, but just do it. Make the investment. It's a lot fun.
