Remove "Introductions" Forum

BHW encourages new members to introduce themselves so that those in the forum can get a minimal feel for who they are, so they can get some exposure so that others see them in order to interact with them, and for them to feel welcomed by the community as there are plenty of sincere welcomes that get sent their way.

The staff does keep an eye on that subforum to help maintain order and to slow any abuses that may occur + we have the benefit of a bunch of quality members reporting any abuse they see in order to keep that section clean.

It's not going away and if you consider a real life moment there are plenty of events that people attend where there is an introduction process.

Any business meeting, any convention and any interaction with a new neighbor begins with, "Hi, I'm BTB, how do you do?" and is often followed with a conversation about what one person does and some aspects of how they live their lives.

I actually had one today when a painter came to my home to give me an estimate for painting part of the interior of my home. He knocked on the door, I opened it, and he said, "Hi, my name is Dave and your neighbor said you wanted me to stop by to see if I could give you an idea on how much it would cost to paint some of your home."

Pretty standard stuff IRL, pretty standard stuff online.

If you see abuses, please use the report button and a staff member will hop on it... if the staff sees abuses they will handle it before you can hit that button.

Bottom line is we want to be a community that interacts and helps one another and the new members have to start somewhere and why not a sub-forum called "Introductions".

Consider the free market and index that thought to a free society. BHW is a free society in the sense it operates under given rules where one can freely choose how, where and when to interact within certain parameters.

You don't want to see it, filter it out like someone said here. Someone also said BHW should exclude certain sections from the home feed. Sure, which is basically the same as you filtering shit out. Others said this should be a private forum -- in a way it is, for most people don't have access to higher membership level sections, plus they can't post wherever they like, so I feel it is already quite private and compartmentalized as it is.

The only suggestion I stand by is, and I've seen this suggestion before, multiple times in multiple threads, is to make it so that introduction posts don't increase the post count.

I view this issue from a laissez faire angle, let the people be. Regulation should be at a workable and effective minimum, for the more you squeeze your fist, the more water will squirt thru your fingers, and that defeats the purpose. Too much regulation is not good, period. Because, I also agree with the fact that membership needs constant replenishing and that new members should be made as welcome as possible to counteract the ones leaving/getting banned, etc. I also agree with the guy/gal that said the intro section is pretty much the only place for a newbie to interact, either there or the lounge, IMO.

Bottomline for me, two points prevail: 1) Don't wanna see it, filter it. 2) Make it so intro section posts don't increase the post count. I feel these two points, if applied, will offer a viable solution for most of the people that have a problem with the intro section.

the problem u might have by have intro section not count to posts to new members is this,
in the intro section many vips do report over spamming , by setting the intro section to 0
all new members will do is spam the main forum instead all over the place,

while the intro section isnt ideal, at least from the start of a member joining there spammy posts
from joining are contained in 1 place and are quickly nipped in the bud,
so , all in 1 place, or all over bhw, u decide . because there gonna do it somewhere else
on the forum if not in there.
