I've been trying to catch up with this trend about giving yourself a personal challenge every year. I had a little inconvenient but I'm ready to set the ball rolling.

So this year I didn't plan anything big or complex. I've had this idea about starting to appreciate cinema a lot more for quite some time. I've Always been a fan of movies but haven't seen much of classic stuff.

I'd like to hear suggestions about your favorite movies or anything you recommend. Here's my top 5 list if anyone is curious (not in order):
  • Fight club
  • Inception
  • The Accountant
  • The Godfather
  • The Godfather II
Any comment/suggestion is welcome!:)

Mr. Church and 16 blocks are something new for me. As for the others, I've watched them. they're really good!

Unpopular opinion:
Nolan's trilogy has a special place in my heart. As you may already know, most people take TDK over TDKR, but I personally prefer TDKR over TDK. Don't get me wrong though, I really, really like Heath's Joker, but man, the scene where Batman escapes from the prison is just breath-taking, definitely my favorite.
 
Thank you for Smoking - I learned more about how the world works and selling / negotiation from this movie than from anywhere else.
Boss of Bosses
Lord of War - Again a good movie to get an overview how the world works.
Psycho - really appreciate how certain scenes were handled back when there was no CGI and fancy props etc.

I'd say go with famous producer/director, there are some gems in their early work. Except that, I'm trying to watch the top100 of best rated movies on IMDB.

Ridley Scott : Alien, Black Rain, Gladiator, Hannibal, Black hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, The Martian
James Cameron : Terminator & Terminator 2, Aliens, True Lies, Titanic, Avatar
Martin Scorsese : Taxi Driver, Raging bull, Goodfellas, Casino, Gangs of New York, The Departed, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street
Christopher Nolan : Memento, Batman Begins, the Prestige, the Dark Knight, Inception, The dark knight rises, Man of steel, Interstellar
And all of Quentin Tarantino's work

neat list! although I had a hard time following fight club.. maybe it's just me..

Good list. No Micheal Caine films like Interstellar? I am disappointed because he is my great Uncle. =)

Just some that came into my mind...
 
Ew. Nolan's Batman trilogy was like salt in an open wound. Christian Bale was a horrible Batman, and the trilogy itself had the plot of a fanfiction written by a teenage girl with emotional problems.

I honestly can't name my top 5 movies. I love so many, and I discover something new that I love every week.

I'm currently crushing on Chris O'Dowd so I'm watching anything with him in it.
