So many dropshipping possibilities.. what do I choose?!

For the last week or two I've been researching dropshipping.
I've watched many, many different YouTube videos from several different people on the subject, as well as a ~5 hour Udemy course.

But I keep switching back and forth between wanting to do eBay dropshipping and Shopify dropshipping!

I have around 9 grand which I can use to invest into a new dropshipping business (although I highly doubt I will need to invest even close to that much.)

And I really just can't decide which would be more profitable in the long run!

My goal is to be able to pay for my college education 100% in 4 years.

Do you guys have any suggestions on which type of dropshipping I should choose if I want to reach this goal? Or is there another, totally different type of IM that I should get into?

Well... do you even know WHAT you want to dropship yet? Before you decide the source you may want to consider. Then consider which items you can rank keywords for or get good PPC prices on bids for.

I haven't really decided on any certain products/niches yet, but I'm researching a few that I think may do well.

Get those decided first, then find a dropshipper that does that well.

I would take in consideration a good provider of goods, if you can find one that can be trusted and got decent delivery time then maybe you could integrate that item in your shop

Here's a concern I have, though.
Is it a bad idea to choose a dropshipper that ships from china, and might take 20-60 days for delivery? (I feel like almost everyone on aliexpress, alibaba etc does this..)

It seems like if I did this the chargebacks would go through the roof...

Is it worth paying extra for fast shipping/epacket shipping/someone shipping from the US to increase customer satisfaction AND reduce disputes/chargebacks?

You can definitely use someone who ships from China, just make sure that the buyer knows that they'll be waiting that long before they purchase anything. Speaking from experience, regardless that I still came postive a couple grand, I lost close to $300 in chargebacks just because they didn't clearly see the shipping times. Just make sure that you play it smart.

In the long run, Shopify dropshipping is the better choice, as you'll have your own site, own brand at your own disposal.

Btw, don't spend all the 9 grand you're having and hope that it'll pay back for your college cost. IM is the long journey. It's trial and error until you find the method/project that works for you.

I do not recommend you eBay (there are some reasons for that), better go with your own store

I think ebay is a great place for fast selling items like playstations etc..

2 big problems with ebay dropshipping:

1. All the aliexpress vendors have their own ebay presence - you are gonna beat their price.

2. As soon as you find a product with a decent margin, unless your manufacturer is exclusive or a secret to you...someone else will undercut your price, sell for a lesser margin...the cycle continues until its theres just no profit it in

I recommend you to not put your money in products/inventory at all.
You need to learn more about dropshipping and invest money in getting traffic to your store. Aliexpress can send products directly to your buyers you don't have to hold onto those products.
