I'm a complete newb to SEO so I don't know whether I'm doing something wrong, but Keyword Planner is giving me only monthly estimates, it says, for ex., 100-1k searches avg. instead of giving me the exact number, as, I BELIEVE, it is supposed to.

Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Sorry, I just saw it is saying "This page shows ranges for search volumes. For a more detailed view, set up and run a campaign."

Does that mean I have to actually let some ads run before it gives me the exact #s?

Yes , that's exactly what it means , you have to pay ads surpassing a certain sum to begin to see the full range , it also means that Google is becoming a greedy company

just start paid campaign when you spend about 2$ it will return exact value of volumes.

Google made this in 2016.

You will get exact number volume from your AdWords account (Keyword Planner) only when you create a campaign for GSN, GDN, YouTube or any other ads.
I mean you have to pay Google for ads in Adwords accounts.
Then Google is ready to show you the more keywords with exact volume.

Happy Journey! :)

Holly sheet...this tool is quite good. This is made by the same people as https://app.keywordkeg.com/

Yes it is, it's a handy tool. Right click over a keyword and you can get the results that way too.

What about apps that give SEO difficulty (assesment of how much competition)? Any free ones?
