How many people got slapped By Alexa's new system?

I see that like most webmaster category sites, BHW's alexa just shot up to 21,000 from the 4,000 it used to be at.

It's actually kind of good in a way because now anyone who has sites who would typically not get alexa toolbar users should have a lower alexa rank.

What a great way for Alexa to finally admit it's rankings were complete bullshit for 10 years.

I don't notice change in my sites alexa rank. For this site, i think most of the users have Alexa tool bar installed, so rank may be more than the real traffic.

my got slapped as well... ha but it doesn't really matter does it... alexa ranking doesn't measure a website earnings anyway..

Quite a few of my sites actually have better rankings as many were not geared towards those that might have had the Alexa toolbar in the first place. It is great that they finally revamped their system.

No it doesn't measure earning, but I have some friends that had top 20,000 ranks and were getting a lot of contextual advertising buys on their site because of it.

Now they got kicked up to well over 50 and 80 thousand so their value will drop.

I have a stupid question. I know no one backs this up but I believe it with all my heart. Alexa ranking is used to some degree by Google and can effect where your page will land in the search engine right along with KW. Years ago when I knew not much I noticed that the one site me and my brother ran would simply do better when we had a higher alexa ranking. I know Google does not talk about this at all but I wonder if anyone else noticed this or am I just crazy. As for me all my sites went up in alexa after the changes but to be honest when I stopped focusing on alexa and put my mind on earnings I did start making more money. There some sort of corelation between the two however.

i wish alexa had any bearing whatsoever on my earnings, it'd be nice ;-) but anyway fyi the current legit site im developing went from 225k to 200k

Hi, I didn't know why, suddenly, so many of mine were doing a "lot better" until I checked on one, finally, and read that Alexa's ranking had "widened out" beyond the view of Alexa Toolbar users... I'm glad. I think that it makes the rankings more balanced. It's nice to see the numbers, too.

Some of my "numbers" got "worse", but most of them "improved". Some dramatically! By the millions...! Well, actually, this can be applied both ways. However, the most dramatic improvement was for the better by several million! About 7,000,000-10,000,000!

I want to confirm this when the comparison comes out. This dramatic change was just since yesterday! I did a double-take! That's what made me look for a cause...otherwise, I'd not have known for a while that Alexa had changed anything...

Mine improved by 150k, nothing really to 'write home about' cause I am still in the six digits. But when I seen the change I was surprised and was wondering what happened...now I know...

My Alexa rank fluctuates now. It either looks like a barcode that does not make any sense or just goes NA
