How much should I be charging for WordPress sites?

Hiya, got about 15 years Front End Development under my belt but due to personal circumstances I've never charged anything to anyone for a website.

Lets say I build a bespoke theme for Wordpress from scratch, set up a e-commerce cart along with all the server side requirements and then sort the SEO with decent copy writing. How much should I be charging in USD, British Pound Stirling or Euros?

it depends on the quality of your work and the needs of the customers but if we´re talking about just the web designing part most of the Done-For-You websites services you see here include a bit more than just web designing but over fiverr i asked there and their prices ranges from $80 to $300 i know its a very wide range of prices but as i stated before it depends.

It's all depend on you, if site is big it will cost high and if site is small it will cost small

Depends on the client. If it's for an offline company with someone that is completely clueless you can charge higher say around $500-$1,000 but if you're doing it for someone online i'd say around $300 max.

I charge $700 + $100 a month to host and manage the sites.

If you can build custom wordpress themes and have some talent, you can get this too.

Well, I was in a meting in Austria, and the guys were asking for 35k euros for WP + woocomerce and custom deign. So if you client is stupid enough
The problem mostly is, that somebody will offer your client to do it for 50$ (mostly lame on free hosting) but your client will have no idea so it really depends on the person you are talking with. Try to sell for high as possible. lets say 500$ is good amount for WP + light theme modification, some articles and some free plugins. my 2 cents

How long would it take you to build it, how much is your time worth/how much do you want to earn per hour?

That's a good way to start basing your prices.

I'm sure you can buy Wordpress sites online pretty cheap but I've done SEO at web design companies that charged easily £2k-£5k for custom built Wordpress sites.

They had proper setup and sales teams who met and pitched to clients face to face, not just Joe Bloggs working from his bedroom - appearances matter if you want to charge more.

I made a big website for a german travel agency for 300 Euros. Some local company made them a website weeks before based on WP with default template for 2500 Euros. It looked so outdated so they decided to make another . 2500 for this, can you believe it?:

You can charge $300 for a mom and pop ice cream shop for a work that take less than a week. For bigger companies, start from $800 for a same amount of time spent to complete the website. I'm talking about theme based development with minor coding or none at all.

Thats like asking somebody how much does it cost to build a house! if youve got 50 I'll set you up a tent or if youve got abit more, ill build you a mansion

Depends upon the market. $800-1000 in the us market. $100-$250 in the indian market.

This! As providing services in Germany myself - I offer an hour rate I set based on the background of the customer. Someone that wants a site / shop for the sole purpose of earning money gets a higher rate than some local business just needing a vcard. As I calculate the needed hours I mostly give some discounts, so that both sites have a good deal.
