Hi, I am in the midst of creating a Woocommerce site and is using Yoast to provide feedback while creating content and adding products. I have a bit of an issue and I hope someone can either provide a solution or some advice on how "bad" it is to have a keyword density of (currently) 17.7%.

The site was started in january/february but still lacks some content and some products, but I'd rather fix this before I add any more content (pages) and products. This issue will also apply to my other category of products later on.

The site in question: mysite/produkter/postkasseskilt - I cannot post my site url - it seems I haven't posted enough on this forum :)

  • First off, this is a category kind of page - I list (almost) all the products within a category of products and most (if not all) the products used to have that keyword in the name and then also in the url.
  • Because of the keyword density, I changed the name of all the products, but the URL I have not touched.
  • Structure is such: site/postkasseskilt/postkasseskilt-standard-sort (the product) - the name is now only "Standard, sort", but it used to have the category (postkasseskilt) in it's name also.
  • I also recently changed a lot of the products from using variants to having single products - because I wanted to easier make links for variants and because it annoyed me when the price range was listed instead of one fixed price.
    • If I had known about this issue, I might have changed the url back when I created all the single products.
  • Also Yoast says I lack a "page title" which I clearly do not. But am using Divi, so it may be because of the pagebuilder, not sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, any other tips too.

First thing you just make a clear idea about which product you are going to sell?
After that Content is the important one so you just concentrate on your content.
Try to avoid the kw density term for some people keyword density doesn't affect because of their quality of content but for others it affects.
And image quality and optimisation is much important for a site so concentrate on it .
Main thing is patient get traffic and rankings as a few months old site you have to work on these perfectly to get some results.
Hope this helps.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to answer. Yeah, I know the products I will sell - will add more later. And is using mainly Adwords to getting sales today. I would however, like to have some visitors through normal searches as well because Adwords alone becomes costly :)

Not sure what you mean by "Avoid the kw density term"? Do you mean that keyword density doesn't really matter? Even if it is as high as I currently have almost 18%.

I'd resist posting your site details in public first of all.

Secondly if it's a store, the KW density will be different to a blog, s an example.
If your store sells 'widgets' then you're products might be red widgets, yellow widgets etc
small, medium,large widgets etc.

This means the word 'widgets' will appear in every product description etc.

Exactly. So I should just disregard the report from Yoast? You advice against posting the url? Would have thought it would be easier to give exact advice then.

As said, I use Divi, and this are not the actual category pages - this are normal pages (instead of) category pages, but they act like category pages. I did so because I wanted control on what products that shows up (using woo shortcodes) and similar. Also I would like to be able to post content around some products without the need to create separate category templates.

If you post the url, you will possibly get people who decide the niche could be profitable, then reverse engineer your site.
Next thing you suddenly have a dozen new competitors targeting the hard work you had researched.

You may get people offering to help you via PM, again this has to be without cost and use your judgement who you give the url to.

Yep just try to reduce the % how many words you approximately have for an article?

Not an article. This is a shop-page that lists various products within category + some content besides. But I believe most of the kw are within the links to the individual products, ie: products/keyword-category/keyword-product - so it's not so easy to reduce the number of keywords in any other way than to remove products all together...
