I know some people rank for high competition keywords if they truly write something that answers all the questions that the person might have when searching this term. Sometimes this can lead up to 4000-5000 with a bunch of paragraphs.

Not saying that you shouldn't do it without backlinks, but incredible content truly helps you get up there along powerful backlinks.

I usually come at them low, from the right with a quick fake to the left...

...most others gave the answer: backlinks, lots of them, powerful ones, expensive.
I mean, sure on-page helps, but if I had to have 1 over the other: backlinks
I mean sure, long, original content helps, but if I had to have that or readable spun, if that came with super-duper awesome backlinks: backlinks.

I mean, with less backlinks there are ways, but that is long ball.

in the future there will be only BIG authority pages ranking.

computer niche will be dominated by five big websites about computers. any new one will struggle to join. same applies to all other niches.

Exceptional content is key. It will lead to natural links from people sharing. You want people to stay on that site for as long as fucking possible. It's all about metrics these days.

That, plus a ton of guest posts, PBN links, and social signals.

Choosing low competitive KW is the best option to rank easier and look for the good quality content relevant to your niche,make sure you building links from a quality PBN network that has no spam,how quality you build that much results in SERP.

Wanna track your high competition KWs? You need to paste your KWs in Google one by one and collect the competitor's websites one by one till the last page of the SERP according to the KW.

Ranking high competition keyword is little difficult nowadays. You need to spend tons $$$.
IMO try to choose some low competitive long tail keywords relevant to your niche and do proper on-page SEO.
Add unique articles, build quality PBN backlinks, guest posts and do some social shares.

i totally agree with everyone who said you need to invest huge amount of money to rank for high competition keywords.
I would hire some good keyword researcher to do some serious research on the keyword before you flush your hard earned money down the toilet.

forget on-site, its nothing compared to the amount of work and $$$$$ that needs to be invested in backlinks for high competition/volume keywords.

Think you all forgot the new monster out there age of domain and relevance of backlinks to the subject matter. I got a great do follow from reddit the other day and I got more of a far larger bump from Epicurean no follow link (food) for my food site
