SERP drop after 1 PBN link

Just an update!

It has been over 4 weeks since I added the PBN link and my rankings went from #3 to anywhere from page 3 to page 5. Finally I have moved back to page 2. That's a good sign I believe. I hope it continues to move upwards but we shall see. I just built a couple of small links and have some more PBNs in the making.

maybe that backlink was toxic? imho you should not have collapsed that far behind.

Yeah that doesent sound too promising #3 to page 2, did you build the link yourself did you wait before putting your link on your pbn, finally are you sure the link is clean and didnt have any chinese or former pbns on it or wasent flagged as a toxic link

u wot m8? I left the link as there's conflicting info on what is the best course of action... added 1 expired web 2.0 link and 1 forum post link. A week later I've moved up. Was it those links, or just coincidence? No idea. Pretty sure you're being sarcastic but difficult to tell as I'm unsure of your exact point here fella.

The only thing I can think of is that I built it within 24 hours and linked out. Big mistake, doesn't look natural, but I can't be certain it was that specifically. I found it myself, looks legit, isn't the highest of metrics behind it but good enough for a network. Highly relevant.

Hi folks,

I have a site that's was ranking #3 for its intended main keyword. It was pretty stable for the last 3 weeks, with just 1 PBN link and 1 random blog comment link. I added a new PBN link 2 days ago, and within 24 hours the ranking has dropped to 6 or 7. I created the PBN site, which looks legit etc. and put the link straight away. Got the PBN site indexed into big G and then bam, hit.

Is this a usual procedure of the big G, or something more sinister? The PBN domain was never used for spam and it is very relevant to the niche.

I kinda want to remove the link to see if it improves my ranking, as I'm losing sales, but at the same time perhaps it's a temporary glitch.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

How long was the PBN build and indexed before you dropped your link? Did you build it out and then quickly link out to your money site?

Bought the domain, setup the hosting and got the site complete with thin content within 24 hrs. Linked within those 24 hrs and submitted to google to crawl.... then went back a couple of weeks later to put a lot more content on.

Same shit happened to me with a site i was working on.. At this point its safe to assume that you were hit with a silent algo penalty which will not show in search console. You best bet is to de-index that website in search console and transfer your existing content to a new domain. After you have done this i would highly suggest you wait a while before building backlinks! Remember when it comes to SEO slow and steady wins the race! You can always use some nitrous when your close to the finish line ;)!

if ya quote some dude, than at least quote some guys that REALLY rank SHit and got less pimples and less success with girls than Bud Bundy.

here, for a start:

This is a great video but it doesent address the question of how long to let a domain sit after getting an expired or auction domain before linking like the pimply kid link does haha. If the 36 day rule in the blog post is correct then testing it using the videos method would give a negative result regardless of what domain you test since its still fresh, after 36 days though would be a good method to test

I dont know im a numbers guy rather then just listen to guru advice and buddys 20 pbn case study showed some pretty large correlation with immediate linking and drops in rankings that dont recover 8 weeks later. Unless theres a better case showing the opposite...
