I'm glad you brought that up. In the cartoon, the Mach 5 had these retractable saw blades.

If someone wanted to brake-check me in that car, they'd get my saw blades.
Such a shame
Why is it "such a shame"?

It looks like one of these mattel cars from the 80's!
I always saw you like a guy with a particuliere taste, not this bs, come on!!

A car is the worst investment you can make. Most likely that is will only lose value. Unless you buy a special one but then you better not drive in it.

Public transport and uber is the way to go instead of buying a fancy car. The goal is to be rich. Not to look rich.
Yeah save every penny until you die and never buy a house because it's not a good investment. You'll die with millions on your bank account and really happy I'm sure. You shouldn't buy shit you can't afford but don't be stingier than ebenezer scrooge.

In reality *yuck*, I've wanted a Mini Cooper for the longest time. It's probably because I enjoyed the compactness of my old Scion XA/XB.

Let's see here. Say I spend $5k on a lightly used Honda Civic. Say I finance it with zero money down and end up with a $100 per month car payment. Say I drive twenty miles to work and back each day, average 40 miles of driving, and get 40 miles per gallon. If gas is $2 per gallon, I'm spending $60 a month in gas. Say I'm spending another $60 a month in insurance, have to pay $200 in property taxes annually, and have an average of $500 a year in maintenance costs.

If I drive that car for five years until my 60 month loan is complete, my total expense for the car is:

$100 x 60 for car payments and interest = $6,000
($60 + $60) x 60 for gas and insurance = $7,200
($200 + $500) x 5 for taxes and maintenance = $3,500

So my total expenditure on my car is $16,700. I then turn around and sell it for $2,700, so my end expense is $14,000 over five years for the ability to drive wherever I want whenever I want.

Let's say I decide to use Uber instead. Ubering from my home to somewhere ten miles away on the least expensive option is $15. That's one way. $30 per day. Let's say I do that five times a week for five years and stay home all weekend every weekend. That's $210 a week. Which is $10,920 in one year. Which is $54,600 in five years.

Bus fare here is $4 typically for a round trip ticket. $4 a day is $120 per month. That's $7,200 in five years, so about half the cost of the Civic over the same time period. But guess what? You've got to ride the bus. Let's say you waste an hour of your day on the bus since it makes so many stops. And say you value your time at $25 per hour. That's another $25 a day out the window. At which point the bus is costing close to what the Uber did.

If your goal is to be rich and you aren't there already, comparing Uber to a vehicle is a shit choice.

I was a fan of Speed Racer when I was younger and I wanted a Mach 5.

Besides, my "dream car" changes every time one of these threads is created. In one thread, it was a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 300sl, and in another thread it was a 1925 Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 Jonckheere Coupe. I'm sure the next time one of these threads is created, I'll say it's the 1963 Chrysler Turbine.

In reality though, I already have my "dream car", so I wouldn't waste my time or money getting any of the cars above.

I was not talking about a second hand car. I was talking about buying a brand new dream car where this thread is about. Nobody his dreamcar is a honda.
