All backlinks gone when not using https

The http version and https are two separate URLS - and you ( or your over-eager visitors) must have been building links (or sharing) the https version of the URL. Just make sure that the http version 301 redirects to https - this can be accomplished in the nginx config, or with apache directly in the config or via .htaccess PM me if you want more detail on how to accomplish.

Google does treat HTTP & HTTPS URL's differently, however as stated above a wildcard 301 redirect should be in place to pass link juice to the HTTPS variant of your URL. Change your Majestic setting to include all subdomains & the links will appear.

Hi, I just check one of my site in majestic, when i'm using https it shows that my site has 7k backlinks, but when i'm searching using http it shows nothing. How is it possible?

Domain on HTTP and HTTPs is treated as a seprate domain by the search engine. You have build links for https domain name that's why it is showing backlinks for https domain, not HTTP domain. I would like to give advice that redirects your http domain to https to avoid a duplicate content issue.

Would that really bring about a content duplication issue? I dont think google (or any other search engine ) treats them as separate sites for that matter.

Yes. HTTP and HTTPS are both treated as separate sites, just as www. and non-www. are treated separately.

What would you suggest someone would do after upgrading to HTTPs so as to not cause the content duplication issues?

You can use redirect code in .htaccess file.

Is there a wordpress plugin for that? I wouldn't want to mess with the .htaccess file.
