Speed up my site

I have a premium theme on WP and I want to speed up my site. I could buy a plug in, been researching them. Or get a developer to tidy it up. Any advice welcome.

Check out Google's Page Speed Insights tool. It will tell you what to fix. Then go to the blog at moz (dot) come and search for the article titled "how to achieve 100100 with the google page speed test tool" for some help. (sorry for some reason I couldn't include the link in this post.) This should take care of some of the biggest issues. Good luck.

Yes check with Google's Page Speed Insights tool and tool will tell you what you need to do for more speed.

I didn't know people were having issues after running page insights on google. I thought their fixes were pretty clear cut.

What hosting are you on?

Namecheap - my site isnt particularly slow (around 80%) but i believe it will give me an edge to get as close to 100% as poss.

If you use namecheap, i think you should shift the hosting frome namecheap. I am an experienced blogger and i have many hostings but namecheap sucks

I'm a programmer so what I did is tidy up my code, minify everything, use gzip, PHP 7, and redis. And transfer my site to vultr which has SSD for hard drives.

I believe that is the best way to speed up your website

2. AMP where applicable
3. Compress & host images etc on a CDN
4. Tidy up/minify all on page code
5. Hosting provider with multiple POPs (points of presence) in your target market (and ideally anycast routing)

I use gtmetrix to scan my website. It has recommendations on what needs to be fixed. Do a little bit of research on its recommendations. Most of the action items to fix the issues require working on your htaccess file.
