Hey guys, I've starting a new online business. Much of like a web agency where I provide web development service. To avoid any competition I'll not exactly name the service that I sell, instead will refer to it as web development service. In the past I've started and failed with some journeys, and after every failure I get more worry that if I start another journey and it fails again, I'll look like an idiot. Wrong mentality indeed. So I'm starting a new journey again with high hopes and big dreams.

Goal: $5000 per month
I'll sell my services from $200-$500. Let's say $300 for easy math.
I'll need around 16 sales to hit the target, like 1 sale every 2 days.

I'm actually working on this since 2 months.

1st month:
In the first month I learned about the service and built a website. Wrote content of the landing page myself and designed myself too. I got one client, got paid like $90. As I was starting I kept the prices low. But the client was unhappy with the work. I decided I've not enough skill to continue and stopped the project.

2nd month:
I acquired more skill from online courses, I read a lot of blogs on the subject, youtube, e.t.c. I know my copy wasn't good because it was my first time so I ordered the copy from fiverr, used a premium theme which gave my site a more professional look.

Current position:
I'm searching for 5 clients to whom I'll provide my service for free in exchange for a testimonial.

Problems I'm facing right now:

Location: I operate from my home in a third world country, I'm no company or a big agency with a registered address. The clients asks me where's your company based? Lol what to say?

Providing Access:
Clients are not willing to give login details to the site. Lol how am I suppose to do any development work without logging into the site.

Trust:
The above 2 problems is related to this, they don't trust me. Can't blame them, I don't have a registered business address, I'm living in a third world country. I got no testimonials, because I'm just starting.

I want to begin this journey by a quote which shall remind me not to give up along this journey:

"Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

Reviews, social accounts with social proofs, trust stamps, as seen on forbes banner, video testimonal and business adress could solve the second problem about the login and password trust. I suggest you send an encrypted link to them where they can send the infos for those who still insecured.

For the business adress lets say in US, you would also need a US phone (voip) and maybe a p.o. box. I'd let another BHW pro answer that question ^^

At least you're honest.

I'm sure there are many solutions out there, one of them is the compagny domiciliating.

Basicaly you go to a compagny and they provide you with an office (2-3 days a week) a conference room (available for a certain period) and they can even take your calls and faxes. Such company service will cost you less than 100$ a month (the majority of them offers a yearly membership and you can save some money)

With that said, you'll have the access to an office and you will have an adress, This will give your work a professional attitude and you can make meetings there.

Try harder, You will get there.

shoot me a pm according your review ....... good luck anyway :)

Still struggling to get a FREE Client to build portfolio.

After little discussion, he said let's proceed.
This is what I get for requesting login information to the site.

You do not need his information initially. Build his site on your server, show it to him, once he approves, He'll happily give out his login info as he'll know what to expect. I too would be skeptical of giving out my access as many would doubt the intentions.

If you don't have the money for your own server/domain. Shoot me a PM, If you're doing work on WP. I'll setup an instance on my server.

Cheers

You should be using localhost to do the work, then say to clents to use a child theme ( they should be anyway) then send them the files. Make a video showing how to do it, that gets round clients not allowing you to use their login.

I'm not selling web designing service, I can't disclose what service I sell exactly because It may increase my competition. But what I do include tweaking code and so I NEED to enter a client's site before I can even start the job. sorry for the confusion. Although thanks for your reply.

It decides quality rather than actual output!

Still you have chances through giveaways and their testimonial reviews will change that fortune for sure!

All the best!

Try to get targeted phn no from Skype. It's may help you to build reputation. Always work.

I'm not good with talking, also not being a native english speaker, I'll just scare them off.
Like a scarecrow.

Love to see these. Keep up the good work. I am way to shy to do this type of work. I can't talk to people so I will never be able to find clients.

It all comes back to sales basics. I used to do door to door sales which is the oldest hustle lol and you learn so much from it like how to counter those types of replies. First of all building trust throught email is pretty hard theres no connection at any level. A phone call or a skype would improve your success rate to build trust.

Don't be scared of loosing this customer, cuz if you are he's gonna feel it. He want to close this deal he said he want more information before giving you access which means he has the intention of doing it, be confident you can do this !

UPDATE
Free clients: 1/5

After talking a little more, the guy agreed and sent me the login details.
I'm now working on the first project.

Can I be one of your free clients?
I'll leave a great testimonial that would boost your reputation.
