Why doesn't my content awesome site rank well?

A site of mine has the best content anywhere yet is ranking terrible. This fellow with an exact match domain and terrible content is outranking me.

My keywords: iron palm . 52
iron palm qigong . 10
iron palm training. 13

Legitimately go take a look around my site. It has the nicest content in the subject of any site on the internet.

After, look at this guy: ironpalmtraining dot com

iron palm training . 8
iron palm . 13

His site is older and is on DMOZ. But his article is terrible.

How is that guy outranking me?!

To be fair I used to be on page 1 for everything.

Domain age and content together with backlinks matter. If your content is unique and better and you target the keywords correctly, then allow time for your site to outrank him while focusing on good quality backlinks.

A lot of factors and variables come into play, not just the content itself, but yes, focus on more backlinks that are of quality as well
as continuing to write great unique content and you should come out ahead in the long run

I think you should first improve your onpage seo :
- His title "Secret *** *** *** Methods Revealed" is much better than yours.
- His article targeting yout keyword is longer
- None of you have pictures or videos ....

And brand your site to have a real identity and then you're good to go to start building links !

And you should remove your site url and keywords if you want to stay in low competition ...

well hes outranking you because google cant tell which text is better.

easy comp kws can be ranked with:
- using exact match in most important places onpage (!) this is important. i tried ranking page with skipping this point and it was MUCH harder!
- bringing MUCH more link juice than your competitors without getting offpage anchor penalties and without spamming your site directly

I looked up his backlinks for you on majestic.com. He has 2 backlinks with tf 0 ct 0 flow from the links. He could be using a pbn though.

You have 3 backlinks with a bit of link juice coming from one of them. It looks like a directory link page and google doesnt really like those that much.

It shouldnt take that much work to beat him. Listen to some of these guys and you'll be back up in 2 weeks.
