Pinterest Follow Back Rate is Horrendous?

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if that's just the way it is with Pinterest. Over the course the past 2 days, I've followed over 800 people with a mere FOUR follow backs. WTF???

I have several boards with 5+ pins each and I add 1 or 2 everyday. I use 10-15 of the more popular hashtags for each pin. What's going on??? Anyone else experiencing a stupid low follow back rate with Pinterest?

Hey, thanks for the reply. Though I don't think that first link applies to me because I'm using my personal account that I've had for years now. So I'm not too worried about getting banned. And thanks for the info about hashtags! Guess I've been overdoing it lol.

I personally had about a third of people follow me back.
I did it manually by finding people in my niche then followed the people that followed them.

If your profile sucks, why would a woman follow you back. It's not like Instagram where it's casual browsing. Woman use Pinterest to be inspired or buy things.

I'm doing the same thing. I usually use the same strategy for IG and Twitter and the followback rate is awesome. Pinterest, not so much.
