Also, I've never heard of the comment on discussion tab of other YT channels strategy. Does it really make a difference? Does it make your videos show up more in recommended or in search engines?

Just trying to rank in Youtube? Make sure its optimized properly.
Link out to high authority sites within video description, link to social media sites.

Should posting a bunch of facebook, twitter, spotify, soundcloud links do it?
Obviously related to the video.

I'd also ad: analyse "gaming hack" niche. those guys really know how to nail YT.

ADD: try to add/build your channel around a keyword. Works!
