If TF goes up... Will Google follow?

We are working hard to add value, get backlinks, improve rankings, etc. We need a measure to know if we are doing a good job.

So, if the Majestic's TF goes up, is that a good sign that we made a good move?

Example: You have TF=7 on one of your money pages. You buy a service and in a month your TF=25. Of course, you have more RDs.

Can you say that this service is valuable? Is that a measure of quality for services or personal SEO actions?

TF has absolutely nothing to do with Google and they take no notice of it.

It's a made up number by a third party company.

What was the service you bought? If it was for backlinks, then yeah the TF obviously improved because of the service if you hadn't done any other linkbuilding.

Edit: Meaning service was "valuable" because they did what you asked

Yes, I know that. I am just trying to find a possible correlation between TF and Google rankings.
I can understand they are different things, but I am thinking that if Majestic likes something, then Google may like it too.

I was working all day on my sites. Then I saw something in Majestic and run here to ask.

Again, I don't think it is your question, so let me try to answer what I think is being asked.

So you buy a service, and you're trying to gauge if it is effective. Because you understand a single package may not be enough to put you on first page of Google, you're looking for some metric to judge if that package is quality.

Ok, so now. Here is what I do to test services, feel free to do either one:
Make a web2 write quality, related content, maybe target an easy keyword. Test the service there, look for serp movement. If it is truly easy, you should see some movement if the service is decent. If it goes up, drop a link to your site, and use the service on your site. Boom, now you've also got a decent little backlink as well.
This other one is a bit more expensive, but kinda fun too. Buy yourself an abuse domain. I have one, it was RD9, couple good backlinks, but I had it sitting around and decided to abuse it, to test some services. So I slammed up 200 posts, nothing unique, all PLR. And I run an auto-blog on it for fresh content from 15 sources, again, nothing unique. Now, whenever I want to test a service, I simply fire the service at one of the pages. I then monitor the backlinks in my GWT, I check out the quality of the sites coming at me that Google recognizes, no cares on how many MOZ or Ahrefs find, only what Google shows me as having found, because those are the only quality ones. If Google shows 5 new links, and I bought 25, I consider the service based upon a 20% success rate and usually shop elsewhere.

That is what I do. Feel free to adapt either for yourself.

Aha, so you're trying to find how much a certain TF value has an impact in Google ranking. The problem is that TF can be easily manipulated by adding some do follow blog comments for example.

For instance, in one of my web 2.0, I've added TF7 with just a pathetic do follow blog comment link. I'm sure that you can add much much more TF with a mere do follow link.

And you can't really find much data just by relying on majestic or any 3rd party metrics, because there are many factors that google take into account.

Let's say that you managed to bring your site to TF 20 and you rank #3 for kw blue widgets. If you try to rank red widgets which is harder and you get on #7, then you still don't know much. The competition's on-page for the latter is probably thougher, but this is something that you don't really know by looking at TF, do you?

My point is: don't rely on majestic metrics. Rely on results in serp. Test, isolate every single possible variable, and gather information. This way you'll be way closer on cracking google algo.

Bonus: TF is made of elements that you can normally analyze by yourself, but you don't know which are since majestic didn't revealed their "secret sauce", so why rely on it?

Keep in mind that if a site does benefit from a link, Google will first lower the site's ranking for a period, then they pause, then later (weeks/a month) it ranks the site where it would be. So if a site falls on the serps right after you get a new link, don't dispair, it's not necessarily a bad signal.

It's part of their algorithm to insert noise and to make it harder to do A/B testing. Someone here has referenced their patent on this and where someone explains it, but I never remember where.

Yes google sacked its own aglo and now follows TF or incorporated it into its algo as the #1 deciding factor /cough

On a serious note they should fire any seo who assumes higher TF on inbound has significant correlation with potential rankings of linked to site

TF is indicative and is a metric that will not tell you a lot about the strength of a service.

It's best measured by SERP movement of your website over time.
