Can this option split in two?

Actually this feature can be annoying, I'm a member of another forum on the same platform as this one and they have that enabled.

It's annoying at times to get notifications from threads you don't really have much interest in but may have posted in once.

Yeah, as @sturose said, if you're posting regularly each day, you'd get an unmanageable amount of alerts for every thread that you've posted in. There's the "watch thread" link at the top of each thread - if you click it, you're automatically subscribed. If you're getting too many alerts, you can go to the "watched threads" ( https://www.blackhatworld.com/watched/threads ) link in your profile settings to turn off alerts for any threads you're no longer interested in.

It's probably quicker to manage that way than being auto subscribed and having to manually turn them off.

?? It doesn't automatically follow threads you post in. Just threads you start.

Are you saying you want it to do what it already does?

It's simple to follow a thread you create, just below the submit buttons are check boxes:

"Watch thread" & "Receive email notifications"

Just tick the option you want before you post.

Hmmmm strange, no idea. Every single thread I post in I automatically start following it or it's random no idea.

Yes, sorry - was just double checking this - I've got it turned off by default. I'd thought I still received alerts for threads I started but I've probably mistaken those for the alerts I received when people quoted my posts.

So, just to clarify, @Billy_Batts - you're asking if the auto follow option could be divided into "just watch threads you start" and "watch threads you create OR reply to"?

Because, unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's possible to break the two apart as part of the core features. As it's fairly easy to manage this manually by watching the threads you're interested in, it's unlikely to be something we could justify spending a large amount of development time on. Given the sheer size of the forum and the data, there needs to be a very strong justification for any customisation that could potentially introduce bugs or impact other functionality.
