Noob restrictions! Minimum Posts to Open New Thread

No, I think it is a terrible idea. I'm a noob and I have posted a couple of threads here that weren't anywhere else. I figured that if I had a question as a noob, then there were probably a bunch of other noobs that did too.

Mods. Don't make this change. IMHO...

Would be good to lock them into "training" forums for a while maybe so all the crap threads go in one place not all places

You could maybe even monitor a bit so they are unleashed after they at least know some stuff.

New members should maybe be forced to read posts like the noobie FAQ type posts from ppl like harro. I am far from a guru in regards to a lot of stuff but due to the recession there has been a ton of irritating threads (even more irritating than mine lol).

Just my opinion hope it helps.

I agree with this as well. Having a training forum for x number of days.

While I agree with it, as others stated I think some noobs will just post "thanks" and the such to increase post account...which will in turn cause mods to get excessive amounts of reported posts/threads.

As well, I have a feeling if a noob can't start his/her own thread, they may start jacking other threads and post their questions via those.

How about a separate section for n00b questions, and a couple of patient moderators, with a "Start Here" sticky as well.

Newbies wont contribute anything.. because they dont know anything thats why they are newbies :>>

They are more and more ppl here who are to lazy to do a search before creating next thread.. threads like i bought a domain.. ive got xx money and dont know what to do next.. or hey im new here what can you teach me.. etc etc.. for those threads op should get warning.. 3 warning = ban.. thats just my opinion.. maybe this will end stupid threads..

About pool.. im kinda against this solutions.. as someone already said.. there will be like millions spammy posts.. and i dont think any mod will have time to check every reported post..

I like the idea, but I have put no on the poll, the reason I say no is there will be noobs who will come on see this rule and just post in other posts just to get there post count up imo
The idea was there though and wish we could implement something like this, but unfortunately that is what would happen.

another idea is to have a noob section where tutorials on various aspects of IM business are put by bhw members to help noobs and noobs should be able to post threads in noob section only for specified no of days even though they may have access to the main members area.

this will help segregrate the simple nooby type repetitive questions

How bout a Noob Sub-Forum all to they're own? and they can ONLY post in that section for X number of "Quality" posts. Assign a New MoD just for that Section. All/Most noob posts will be in one spot and not scattered across the board..

Plus have a Faq pop up on they're first login that they are required to read and agree to before they can even browse the board. I've seen that on other boards...

That could work, require X number of Quality posts before you can travel in the big pool of information. Noobs have a training pool to learn the ropes. They would be restricted to only be able to post in that area. This sub forum would be easy to moderate.

Would be like shooting fish in a barrel! Bleeding noobs! I luv it!

Well this is a bad idea.. Sounds rude? It might.. Well the so called nOObs , Will quickly make 15 garbage posts spamming the forum all over for the sake of creating new thread.

I think 1 or 2 per user it is ok per month but of course u can post 1---+ is you make new account with another e-mail and ip so 1 or 1000 will be the same ...if you realy want to post it here

works well just the way it is. If everyone would use the jr vip forum more, issues solved.

I think it should be just like cookie stuffing and that being able to start new threads be granted as a priviledge.

I agree with the OP that there seems to be thread after thread after thread started asking the same questions repeatedly.

When I first joined I was afraid to post let alone start a thread but more often than not it seems that noobs just jump in with both feet and don't even bother to scan the first page or so of threads before they post a thread asking something that has been answered 15,000 times already.

Cut down on all the threads by having a "best answer" feature that shows the best response to one question. Delete all other duplicate content.

I agree to put a restriction to X amount of posts, though I am a newbie, but even a newbie like me knows that its useless to say thanks or write some "I will try this" sort of things. Whoever does like this, is way beyond a NOOB or may be he is just spamming around.

I think it will increase "spam" in other thread too...
But if they (we ^^) can start new thread in only few part as the introduction one and a "newbee" one, it can be nice imho
