Is anyone here able to tell me why my site isn't ranking? I've had it for years and has a sitemap.

Yeah I agree it is a small website with not much content in the grand scheme of things. Did you ping your website? Is it connected to any google products like Webmaster Tools and Analytics? That always helps with indexing. By the way, is it optimized for any keywords? If anything, maybe consider changing CMS to wordpress.

Yeah, it's definitely indexed. It is ranking on page 3 and back for a bunch of long tails. I just think the size of the site and back links are some of the biggest problems to start. I didn't dive into on page or anything. I'm sure there are some on page issues, but I'm not doing a free, full site audit tonight
. WordPress is a solid suggestion though as it would probably fix a lot of the onpage issues I'd find.MTUser2010

According to ahrefs, you had 4 backlinks, but you lost them all in Feb 17. You do rank for some keywords. For example, "build your own wooden dummy", you are at 24. Your site looks like it was built in 2005. If you worked on your content, and used a CMS like WordPress that would help you with on page SEO, you could do a lot better.

First, check your site is in the index . Then please do on page SEO properly. Then do some good backlinks & off page SEO.surely, your site will get rank.

Probably because your site looks, sounds, and smells like a shitty site. Google has a knack for picking up on that. No mystery here.

Page 2 is akin to not existing.
Your site doesn't have a lot of content. I ran your home page through a keyword/phrase density checker just to see what the most common words/phrases were and not many martial arts phrases were present. Google needs context to know what a page is about. Your site could just as easily be about wooden dummies (as in things that look like people) as it could be about the martial arts tool. I'd suggest writing a lot more content and building more context around your site.
Regarding ranking with good content only, it's largely a lie. It's perpetuated by the understanding that if you make great content, then people will link to it, then you'll rank. Therefore, links rank your content. Your site is very thin though.

Add more pages and build more links but first do keyword research and come up with a handful of low competition keywords that you could target.

Now I need a different content management system and backlinks? Why does WordPress seem beneficial compared to what I have now?

WordPress gives you a lot for free as far as good on page SEO goes. For example, your pages are bloated with inline style and deprecated HTML elements like the <center> element. Lots of HTML element attributs, and <span> styling tons of text.
You use tables to create the layout for your site, this is a web design cardinal sin. For headers, you have a single h1, but you have no subheadings at all (h2, h3, etc). All of your paragraphs are separated by <p> </p> which is a hacky way to add whitespace.
Your pages have inconsistent meta data. For example, your homepage has a meta-description, but your FAQ has no meta-description. All of your pages start out with the exact same words in the <title> tag, this is horrible.
You don't have a canonical set up, so your site exists as both www.domain.com and domain.com. This isn't good for duplicate content reasons, but it's even worse because it splits your link equity in two. If someone links to a page's www version and someone links to the same page but the non-www version, then instead of that page having 2 links pointing at it, you have 2 identical pages with 1 link pointing at each.
This is just to start. I imagine there are more and possibly worse problems. You'd have much fewer problems with WordPress + Yoast SEO (free plugin).
