South Park live streams

I have noticed a large number of live streams in the last few days showing south park episodes, they always end up on my front page even though I don't subscribe (I am assuming due to the 10k+ audience).

Any idea why people are doing this? Chances are somebody is profiting!

Just because it's uploaded doesn't make it ok to live stream for profit though?

They are all small channels (max a few k subs) doing it so it doesn't seem legitimately from comedy central

How can they be getting away with it though? Surely if it's from AdSense then that could be traced to a person?

Not suggesting this as a method but I'm fascinated how this must be working

Its copyrighted content, so the risk is very high.

Yeah if they have many viewers then they will be featured by youtube itself but I dont understand how they can profit from it.
Ads that too only after x minutes.

They seem to be running for long enough to get ads, I was watching one and saw a few ads. No idea how they would get this money without telling Google who they were though

Only other thought I had was will it make the channels high ranking due to having had a big live stream and potentially sellable if they aren't banned?

They probably have a Google account and bank account with fake information, or they use their friend's or family member's account, or something along those lines. Then they somehow manage to get approved for ads on their videos and livestream shows until their account gets shut down and then they cash out. Just a guess.

Oh, you're talking about those 24 hour live streams from random accounts that have been popping up all over YouTube and Facebook?

I clicked on one of them a week ago out of curiosity and the guy was broadcasting his own "ads" in-between episodes using Microsoft's Notepad. That's right, they were text ads that he would drag into the frame every 10 minutes or so telling you to go to different websites for "amazing deals". He was probably using some live screen recorder and pulling episodes from one of those pirate sites to do it, but it was the raunchiest thing I had ever seen in my life.

But hey, if it's making these guys good money, I can't really make fun of them for doing it.
