Proxy checker

Thanks man! I thought that might be the case for the Russian one as I used the Meta Grabber and I think it was giving me Portugese Titles/Meta back? I couldn't figure out what was happening with the Canadian proxy as it would just time out (which I thought could be the issue, but when I used the proxy in a browser, it worked fine). Was it returning French?

Thanks for the Debugger tip. I spent a lot of time in Wireshark, but it's hell sometimes trying to piece everything together in it. I don't use it enough to be super proficient. Would you say HTTP Debugger Pro is a bit more friendly?

Yes the Canadian proxy just timed out a lot, but its a free proxy. Also bear in mind that the proxy checker isnt using javascript so when testing in a browser you should have javascript off.

I have only briefly used wireshark. I pretty much got started with http debugger years ago and I found it to be user friendly enough to get done what I needed and over the years Ive learned how to do even more. I use it for scrapebox, and many other programs including digging around in the response and post data for stuff like games, e.g. Clicker Heroes.

I do enjoy a game here and there to distract myself and clear my head when I get too deep in SEO, lol. But when you hack the response data and give yourself mindless upgrade the game loses its fun.. :)

Anyway there is a 2 week full featured trail so give it a go and see what you like.

Aside from being able to see a clear timeline of events, see the header send and receive data and what proxy is used (which lets me solve most issues) it also has a poster, so you can just right click on a url and hit edit and reply and then change any data you want and POST it and view the responses. Very handy, especially for hacking online games... oh and also to see how sites response to different things, useragents etc... for scrapebox.

Anyway, I have never had need to use anything else, so I haven't. The only negative is that because its hooking everything it can slow things down a bit, so I just have a batch file that I start the service when I need it and kill the service when Im done. Also firefox doesn't sometimes like the security certificate that http debugger needs to install to hook https traffic, so I use chrome a lot when using it with debugger, and firefox only some.

thanks a lot
but I tried this for like 2hours but it just doesn't work for me.

I got these two free proxies:
52.197.1.102:3128 - works manually
183.207.95.23:8080 - doesn't work

but Scrapebox shows confusing results:

and also I need to test my Proxies against Reddit
what's the adress for Reddit to only be in english and what's a good string to search for?
Your proxies are just timing out for me so I guess they are down/dead at the moment.

For Redit just try something basic, facebook is the exception rather then the rule, most of the time its just straight forward

I also have a video that may be helpful in general

Here there Loopline
thanks a lot
I just watched the video and tried this for Reddit but Scrapebox still lists working proxies with errors
Here are some screens - the last one is showing the proxy working with an open Reddit Tab:

I am kind of confused because I invested a whole day into this and it still doesn't work.
It shouldn't be that difficult to test a couple of free proxies against some pages :(

I also downloaded the trial version of HTTP Debugger Pro but I have no clue how to test proxies with this thing

Dont know why you just dont use the free demo I suggested. Free proxy tester/checker in it . Really simple to use.

I actually tried this today, downloaded it again, whitelisted it in my Antivir and tried both the setup.exe and the .msi package
Both gave me a strange popup that told me that I have to verify that I have access to that directory. (see screenshot)
I checked the 'User Account settings' (don't know if this is the correct english translation) and also tried to run it as an administrator. -no luck

I am going to try this tomorrow on my notebook.

No proxy is free. You either pay money for working ones or you pay time in testing "free" ones and using them (they tend to be inconsistent and slow).

My guess is that scrapebox only does one get request for the page and it's failing, whereas I believe browsers try repeatedly to connect. @loopline could probably verify this.

Hmmm thats a weird error. Are you properly extracting the files from the zip?

If you connect with me on Skype (same Username) Ill help you get it installed and going in minutes.

That error with windows states:

A. The Windows Installer does not have permissions to write to the folder indicated in the error message.

This can occur if the folder already exists on the target machine, and the currently logged on user does not have the appropriate permissions to write to that folder.
Go to the folder on the target machine that was displayed in the error message.
Right-click the folder and select Properties.
Select the Security tab.
Verify that the currently logged on user has the appropriate permissions to write to this directory and set the permissions as needed.
B. A File Over 2 GB is Being Installed
This is a Microsoft limitation with Windows 7 and the MSI technology. If you include a file that is over 2GB in size you will get this error when trying to install. Please try the following possible workaround to copy your 2+ GB file to the target machine:
In the Support Files > Advanced Files view, Add your file under the Disk1 folder
Create a custom action that would copy this file to the target location. The Disk1 folder can be referenced as SourceDir. Note that the release would have to be built uncompressed for SourceDir to resolve to the Disk1 folder. Building an uncompressed setup is also a requirement if you include a file that is larger than 2GB since Microsoft's cab extraction utility has this size limit
Remove the file from your component
Basically, rather than installing the file as part of a component, you would create a custom action that would copy the file from the source location (disk) into the target folder. If using an InstallScript custom action, the function XCopyFile can be used. In order to get the value of SourceDir and INSTALLDIR and use them in InstallScript custom action, you would need to use the MsiGetProperty function.
this is permission issue

Right clicking it and running as Admin might work. But id suggest connecting with me on Skype and Ill get ya going for sure.

After 3 days of testing (way too long xD)
I finally found a tool that's free, easy to use and does the trick (program is called gatherproxy for those who want to know)

For Reddit just try something basic, Facebook is the exception rather then the rule, most of the time its just straight forward

Is there are an URL and a string you recommend for Reddit?
https://www.reddit.com with the string Reddit works 95% of the time (which is enough for what I want to test)
The other 5% get a green light because there are proxies that block Reddit and answer with a page that says things like "Reddit is blocked"
and of course, the proxy checker gives green light because he found the string "Reddit".
So is there an URL string combination you can recommend?

After I got Gather Proxy working perfectly I tried Scrapebox again.
I don't know why but if I put the same 100 free proxies, with the same URL to check against, and the same string to look for in Scrapebox,
it gives me completely confusing, wrong and different results than Gatherproxy.
(I said this earlier but maybe it is just because it is a very old version of Scrapebox)
I tried this almost parallel (because I know free proxies die fast) with scrapebox and gatherproxy and got different results.
I checked 15 proxies (scrapebox said that these working for reddit) manually and
only 1 out of 15 worked.
Tried the same thing again with the results I got from Gatherproxy and 15/15 worked.
I am not a complete noob when it comes to Scrapebox, I used this tool in the past - just never used it for checking free proxies against a certain URL.
So - don't know maybe just because of the old version but hey I am happy now that I found Gatherproxy that is doing the trick.

That's a very nice offer but as I said I finally found a tool that does the trick for me.
However today I also tried the Paigham Bot again on my notebook.
I got the same error, I also tried to run it as an Administrator and checked all the permission. -same error
which is weird because my notebook has a different Windows (8.1) and is relatively fresh (installed like 1-2 month ago)

I also have to say that I think (not necessarily true) that I got some maleware because of Paigham bot (again: not necessarily true)
Yesterday when I tried Paigham Bot on my other PC, I whitelisted Paigham bot in Avira Antivir as you said
after some time I got some maleware stuff that is opening a browser with some advertisements. ( you guys probably know what I am talking about)
After that I uninstalled what was left of Paigham bot searched for maleware got 4 results deleted them and everything was fine again.

Today I tried the Paigham Bot on my notebook (which mostly is used offline - I think it was only online once or twice after I installed windows a couple of month ago.)
I tried to install Paigham Bot on that notebook, whitelisted it in the AV software and after that, I got the same advertisement/maleware popups I got yesterday on my other PC.
Searched for Maleware and did get the same 4 results.
This notebook isn't even in the same network as my other PC.
So I think that the maleware came with Paighambot but of course I am not 100% sure.

You definately did not get malware from Paigham Bot ! Your AV is falsy flagging the Program. If you doubt any of the files, you have the ability to submit the file to your AV company and they will specifically look at it for you. The reason some AV actually flag Paigham Bot is because its data file is encrypted and it cn not read the contents of that file. AV dont like that.

I think you may have some basic technical issues going on from your side. The fact that you are getting that error, that error is generated from your side, not the app. Its a windows error from your machine, essentially telling you that you have a permissions issue going on.

Anyways heres some emails from AV (One of The best Ones)

Your not using the current version of Scrapebox? Well I don't know what to say to that. Why would you not update to the latest version first to see if that didn't resolve the issue?

You could try like

but I can't really guarantee anything will work and we are comparing apples to oranges if your using an old version of Scrapebox.

You definately did not get malware from Paigham Bot
yeah as I said not necessarily true that I got this crap from Paigham Bot - just looked like it.

thanks!

I don't 'own' Scrapebox it's just one of the preinstalled tools I can use at my office.
Have to talk to the admins before updating it - that's also why I asked for the BHW discount.
- but I am very happy now that I got at least something that's working for me.

Of course, I just cannot imagine that a not up to date scrapebox version can't check proxies against an URL.
I also checked the scrapebox changelog and found that they patched the proxy tester but this was for earlier versions.

but I am happy now
thanks everyone!

What is the exact meaning of scrapes? I don't get that meaning.

to scrape proxies = a tool that that scrapes proxies from website links
belonging too proxy sites, those proxies are imported from those links
then checked for anonymous and transparent proxies

to scrape proxies = a tool that that scrapes proxies from website links
belonging too proxy sites

I think if you provide a small example screenshot would make things easier to understand.

Right now it is very unclear to understand the words.

Hey Kingston,

I'm saying this nicely, so please don't take it any other way than me trying to be helpful. This forum isn't intended to be tech support for other peoples' software. You should contact the developer through their website if you can't get the application working properly. Few people on here will have experience with the particular application your using, let alone have experienced the exact same issue you are running into.

1) Try to run as administrator
2) Install latest version of Net Framework - something like 4.7 I think
3) try another software that does the same - Skyebug77 mentioned PaighamBot, he even offered me to help me via Remote because I had some problems running Paigham Bot :)
