I suggest namecheap - they offer free privacy with each domain purchase and with coupon code INTERFACE you get domains at $8.81 ...

Godaddy has a separate privacy protection company and they charge alot during the renewals.

I would say just buying domains is fairly cheap at godaddy com.

Use retailmenot com for coupon codes. You can get your domains for about $6 or so a piece....

It's buying hosting from them that is more cost associated.

try emailing namecheap asking if they have a coupon for bulk domain registering (let them know that you found a register selling for $6.99, they may beat it if you buy enough)

here's kind of a godaddy/google trick

go to google and search this phrase: "godaddy 6.99"
then click on the 1st (sponsored link) which is godaddys adwords ad.. it will have a coupon in the url (current coupon: goaz2001m) that gets applied at checkout on .coms
