A Bitcoin is 2100$ NOW

Currently trying to buy BTC on Local so that I can swap it into ETH

Wish I did this 5 months ago, when somebody tipped me off to it lol

How about litecoin? I heard that currency will replace bitcoin

Can't believe this, stepped away from it about a month ago and told myself I'd never go back to it :( brb ;)

By far the best investment.

Pump money into a crypto, hype people the fuck up, let them invest their house and 3 ferraris, wait, crash, enjoy making 5x, repeat.

Short term it's worth while, anyone with a decent head should know how much they can invest. I was in less than an hour ago with BTC and already up.

I'm not selling mine until they hit $100k. I'm not selling mine until there are no more physical banks, no more 3 weeks to get a loan approved, no more 5 days to turn a guarantee of money (cheque) into money, no more 1-2 hours for a digital transfer of funds, no more £20 late payment fees etc.
I am waiting until bitcoin and/or other digital and modern currencies turn the entire banking industry (And incidentally the place where most of the worlds money is to be made) completely and utterly on its head.

So you're never selling then.

I think Bitcoin is great and has a lot of uses and I've used it many times myself, but I still think for the average person it's still way too problematic and/or expensive.

Right now if I want to buy Bitcoin in any quantity in a safe manner I have to go through an online exchanger, for example Bitstamp. That means not only will I have to do a wire from a traditional bank (oh the irony), but I'll lose quite a lot of money in the process, either from wire fees, or just shitty Bitstamp (exchanger) fees. Also, any reputable exchanger now wants verification, meaning they want a scan of my ID. So there's really no difference there in terms of opening a bank account with a normal bank when you're talking about privacy or fees.

Of course there are ways to buy Bitcoin with cash (I've used SpectroCoin a lot), but do you realize how fucking ridiculous the fees are? You lose 5-10% of your money every time. Why would any normal person do that?

As for loans and cheques... Good luck getting a loan of any significance using Bitcoin and it's 2017, who the heck uses cheques any more?

Right now as much as I hate to say it my bank is actually pretty awesome. I can do instant (free) transfers to other people who have an account at the same bank. I can do transfers anywhere in Europe for 10 Euros and they only take a day max. I have zero fees when I use my ATM card (compare that to ridiculous Bitcoin ATM card fees) and I honestly feel a lot safer with my money in an established bank than being stored with a Bitcoin company that could dissapear tomorrow (which has happened multiple times already). And yeah you can store your Bitcoins offline in cold storage, but again, 99% of people have no clue (and probably never will) on how to do that.

What you're seeing right now is gambling and price speculation, it's not real world adoption. It's rich Chinese having more money than they know what to do with and wanting to get it out of their country. And it's all the greedy traders and gamblers worldwide looking to make a quick buck

I also find it quite funny the guy talking crap about banks and their fees has a huge banner promoting LocalBitcoins with his affiliate link in. So I go there and I select my country and you know what? I would lose $60 in difference if I wanted to buy a Bitcoin with the top trusted seller. How exactly is that beating a bank? And what's even funnier is there's a limit of around 0.3 Bitcoins with that top seller... So I couldn't even buy 1 Bitcoin if I wanted to

I should have saved mine. This is my greatest regret when I should have around 35 bitcoins to date. :(

Yea I totally see where you are coming from and I don't disagree, there are a lot of hurdles to overcome.

Also agree that right now there is a lot of hype reflected in the price - I can just imagine everyone buying bitcoins now because they are thinking - wow its gone up again! And thats going to further inflate the price.

However, I still think that the banking industry as a whole is just begging to be modernized and bitcoin just seems like a good fit for doing that - its at least shown proof of concept if nothing else.

Agreed. Although I think some banks have done a huge amount of modernization in recent years. I use ING and their online interface is nothing short of amazing. I can instantly exchange money between my accounts of different currencies, I can pay all my bills with just a couple of clicks and I can even buy top-ups for my mobile phone.

It just pisses me off a bit when I see everyone talking about how amazing Bitcoin is. Truth is, for most people it's not amazing and costs more than a traditional bank would for a lot of the usual day to day actions.

As I see it right now buying Bitcoin is very expensive. Using Bitcoin in a normal real world scenarios (ATM card at stores and so on) is very expensive and there are a ton of associated technicalities and risks that no should really wants to put up with. Just my take on it
