Will my style changes I've made change when I update theme?

Hey guys. I am currently using wordpress, and I'm a newb to it.
I've made some style changes by adding custom css to my theme, to make images, buttons etc appear how I want them to.
My questions is will this be overwritten when I update the theme?
- is there a way to update features of theme like security, functionality etc without touching the style?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, will do that, but the thing is I made the changes using some "add custom css" feature in my theme (tempera), so when I thought about this problem I looked to see if my changes were in style.css.. and for some reason only some classes are and others I'm not sure where they are

if they are hard coded on separate templates like header.php footer.php single post.php then you have to do them again.

If you use tempera plugin, i think your style still remain the same. But if i'm not sure if there is any conflict between your theme and tempera plugin or not. So be careful before update your theme!

you should do update in Inspent element (Right Click on webpage or press F12) than should be modify online file.

All changes to a theme, css or php should be done in a child theme, then you only have to do it once. Modify the actual code and it will be gone next update.

As previous advice, copy the current style sheet (CSS) and copy that after updating the theme. It will not affect the layout of your website though you will update the theme. All your customization will remain unchanged.

You need to use a child theme. This is just a theme with the stylesheet linked to your main theme because whenever the theme updates you will lose your styles other wise. The child theme does not need to update which is why all the original theme changes should go inside of there
